WAES Monthly Newsletter
October 2024
Happy October!
Dear Wildcat Parents.
We have made it to fall! With fall comes so many changes- the leaves, the weather and sunset. At the school, we are well into our school year! By this time, we have assessed all students' reading and math levels and have received records from previous campuses. We are more aware of what each child needs and have started small group instruction. There will even be some tutorials taking place this month.
In October, you will receive your child's first report card for the 24-25 school year. Report cards can be viewed in Skyward and we will provide you a copy when you come in for your first parent-teacher conference. Conferences will begin October 15 and run through October 25. Please be on the look out for more information from your child's teacher.
We hope to see you at one of our many events this month. As always, if you need to speak to an administrator, please call the front office to make an appointment.
Wishing you a wonderful October!
Mrs. Rodriguez,
School Principal

Attendance
With the school year well under way, I wanted to remind you about attendance and its importance to your child's success. It is well proven that if a child has good attendance, they are more likely to be academically successfully.
We have noticed student are getting to school late or missing all together. Please keep in mind that students arriving after 7:35 a.m. are considered tardy. Also, our official attendance time is 9:30 a.m. Students checked out after 9:30 a.m. are considered present for the day. Students on transfers with excessive tardies and/or absences may have their transfer revoked or denied in the future. If you have any questions about your child's attendance, please call the front office and talk to Mrs. Rangel.
Volunteering and Background Checks
If you are interested in volunteering at your child’s school or attending a field trip with your child, please complete an official background check by clicking on the 'Sign Up To Be A Volunteer' link below. This must be completed before you are eligible to volunteer at any Galena Park ISD campus or to chaperone any field trips.
Sign up to be a volunteer; it is easy!
