Arts Education Research
Arts Economy
Want to know how much a specific creative sector is contributing to the U.S. economy?
In 2022 new data was released to demonstrate the value arts related jobs had added to the U.S. economy (which had hit an all-time high at the time), contributing 4.3 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), or $1.1 trillion, to the U.S. economy. The data was produced jointly by the National Endowment for the Arts' Office of Research and Analysis and the Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Commerce Department. The searchable database provided by the ACPSA revealed the size of the arts and cultural sector and its contributions to the U.S. economy, the number of workers employed by those industries, compensation figures, consumer expenditures on arts and culture, and import/export activity.
Data was collected from 2017-2022 and compiled into a searchable graphic index accessible on the National Endowment for the Arts website. Users can access a graphic chart through the drop-down list, select from a variety of arts and cultural industries to learn how much value and growth they have added to the U.S. economy.
