Week In Review and A Look Ahead
September 6, 2024
Notes from the Principal
Hello MSE Students and Families!
We closed out our second week of school and prepare to embark on our first full five-day week on Monday. It was nice to have a positive turn-out for our 7th/8th grade Back to School Night on Thursday. We appreciate being able to connect with our families and encourage you to mark on your calendars September 19 for our first "Chat with the Principals" and November 25 and 26 for our fall conferences.
We started our regular "Period 10" clubs and activities on Thursday and hope our students enjoy the clubs and groups that are meeting at the end of the day. Our students are welcome to reach out to their counselor to see if there are spots open in other clubs in the event that they were not able to join one of interest this trimester. Most of our clubs do change/rotate during the trimesters so they are still opportunities available for other clubs in the coming months.
Our students have adjusted well to our open seating in the cafeteria. It is important that everyone continues to maintain appropriate behavior, avoids making messes or throwing any objects, and keeps their hands to themselves while in the cafeteria as well as the hallways.

Message From the Counselors
Suicide Prevention & Awareness: Your school counselors hope your child/(children) are having a great start to middle school! We wanted make you aware of some sensitive material that will be covered this month in our REACH for the Future course. To help ensure all students remain safe and proactively educated, we will be discussing suicide prevention, awareness & resources. The lessons will be prefaced to make students aware that if they are uncomfortable or need support the counseling office will be available to help students take a break or process. Materials will be posted on our REACH Website to view and refer to. Please reach out to your school counselors for any questions or concerns.

Creations in Art!
All students currently taking Art learned on the first day of school about M.C. Escher and his use of tessellations in his art. Then the students each created a fish tessellation that is now displayed as a collaborative artwork in one of the display cases by the Art Rooms. It was a creative first day activity to start swimming the right way in Art Class!
