It’s an exciting week at Washington! 🎭 Our Theater Production and Behind the Scenes students will be sharing their incredible gifts and talents during their performances of Finding Nemo Jr. this week! We’re so proud of their hard work and creativity—be sure to cheer them on as they shine on stage! 🌟

We are also reaching for the stars with exciting events on the horizon! 🚀

📢 Spring Elective Registration is now open! Forms are due Friday, January 17.

💻 Hour of Code is coming up, and we’re looking for volunteers—especially if you have coding connections or tech experience! Help us spark curiosity and inspire our students.

📚 World Read Aloud Day is approaching, and we’d love for you to share a favorite story with our learners! We’re seeking guest readers to share stories and promote the love of reading.

📆 The PTA is also hosting a planning meeting on January 13 for Math & Science Night. Join this virtual meeting to be a part in planning an unforgettable event!

We’re excited to participate in the Hour of Code, a global movement introducing students to the world of computer science through fun, engaging activities on Code.org on January 22 from 9:40-10:40am. This initiative encourages problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking skills while helping students explore the basics of coding.

During the Hour of Code, students will engage in hands-on activities designed for all skill levels, making it a perfect way to spark interest in technology and innovation.

Do you know someone who works in technology or has experience with coding?

No pre-planning required- we just need volunteers to support students in classrooms during our Hour of Code Event.

We are looking for guest readers to celebrate World Read Aloud Day at Washington on February 5, 2025. To make this day special for our students, we would love to arrange several guest readers during the day. Please sign up if you are interested in reading to a class. If you have any questions please reach out to Carolyn Schmidt - cschmidt2@wcpss.net.

If you are able to come, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled time to allow time for checking in at the office and getting to the classroom.
