Principal's Message
We thank you Lord,
for this term.
For our challenges,
our successes,
and the mistakes from which we have learnt.
Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage
to do what is right and
to be witnesses of our faith
Amen
Kia Ora from NZ
Just a short message from me for the newsletter this week. I wish to thank all of our students and staff for an amazing term, and hope that they all enjoyed the Colour Splatacular today.
Term 4 is a shorter term for students, with only 9 school weeks. We are looking forward to a disco in Week 3, and our graduation events later in the term. Semester Two reports will be provided to parents at the end of Term 4, and we hope to have all students giving of their very best in all learning areas as we move toward the end of the year.
I look forward to the safe return of all of our students on Tuesday 8th October. Students should wear their summer uniform for Term 4.
Interschool Athletics
Congratulations to all of the students who took part in the Interschool Carnival this week. what a great display of sportsmanship and camaraderie. The students had an amazing day at the Interschool Athletic Carnival! St Jude's finished in 4th place out of 9 competing schools. Well done to all students on their outstanding efforts!
Some Farewells
We wish all the very best for Mr and Mrs Trethowen, who will celebrate the birth of their beautiful baby at the start of October. Mrs Trethowen leaves us today, and our 3 Year Olds will be in the very capable hands of Mrs Bollen (our Kindy teacher) for next term. We look forward to Mrs Trethowen joining us again in 2025.
We thank Miss Nu, who has been working really hard with us during Term 3. We look forward to Miss Nu joining us again throughout Term 4.
Thank you to Mr Artingstall, who has been with Mr White (Phys Ed and STEM) this term on his final teaching practice. We wish him all the very best for his future teaching career, and hope he has many happy memories of his time with us.
Happy Birthday to the following students who have recently celebrated their special day or will celebrate during the first week of the school holidays!

CEWA Child Safe Framework
Have you heard of the CEWA Child Safe Framework?
Over the term we have looked at the 3 key concepts that underpin the CEWA Child Safe Framework and the nine elements that combined, help us to make decisions surrounding child safety in the school.
In the coming weeks, we will unpack one of these nine elements each week and how St Jude's ensures that each element is being addressed.
This week's focus is:
Human Resource Practices
These practices assist our schools and care centres to identify the most suitable people to work with our students and to provide appropriate training.
What does this look like?
- Our school takes all necessary steps to identify the most suitable people to work (or volunteer) at our school and with our students.
- Staff and volunteers are trained in reporting procedures.
At St Jude's we:
- Employment History Checks for ALL school staff and relief staff
- Working with Children Check for all staff (including relief staff and external providers)
- Mandatory Reporting Training annually for all staff and regular volunteers (including School Advisory Council, Friends of St Jude's, regular maintenance workers etc)
- Volunteer and Staff Inductions conducted throughout the year for new members to the school
- Visitors register is signed at the front office upon entry to the school, during which, visitors read and agree to comply with the Community Code of Conduct.
- Referee checks completed for new staff and relief teachers (due diligence)
- Code of Conduct training conducted annually
- Elements of Code of Conduct are expanded on at each School Advisory Council meeting
Have a safe and happy holiday!

Student Medication
We are now in Spring which brings out Hay fever allergies. If students are on medication for allergies or require any medication to be administered at the office we will require parents to complete the form giving permission for Mrs Dique or Mrs Scott to carry out your request. The form can be downloaded from our website or is also available at the office.
Please make sure that all medication comes to the office (not stored in students school bags) This is a safety precaution.
