Dear Parents and Carers.
Another busy week. It’s hard to believe that I have only worked here for fifteen days! I am learning so much about the staff and children in such a short time that it feels like I have been here forever.
Some of our young people are finding the challenges of a new year group difficult and I have been so impressed by the compassion and understanding demonstrated by the school community – children, staff and parents. Consequences for behaviour are in place, even if children don’t see them so we thank you for trusting us to do the right thing even when the road is bumpy.
Last week I shared some information with you about an approach we are going to be embedding in school – Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL). I pre-warned you that I would be on the scrounge for resources as one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure! We are going to have a drop off point near the Early Years entrance for any of the following:
Pallets – lots
Tyres – lots in different sizes
Pipes
Large pieces of fabric
Tarpaulin
Cable drums – different sizes
Crates
Decking planks
Plastic cordons/road dividers
I think that will be enough to get us started. If you can think of any local business we could contact for this, please let me know. School have paid the £7000 it has cost for the training and implementation package so you can see how much of a priority it is to us!
The Friends of Kirk Fenton are also going to be supporting us with storage and writing to local companies for donations. Exciting times ahead.
Wishing you all a great weekend whatever you may be doing.

Phonics Meeting for parents/ carers of Reception and KS1 children - Wednesday 2nd October at 4.30pm in the school hall
This session will give you an insight into how we teach reading in school. Free childcare will be provided for children who attend the school (unfortunately our insurance does not extend to providing care for children who are not pupils). We would love to see everyone there.
Many thanks,
Mrs Westfeld
PARKING
Please be considerate and safe with parking near the school as a resident has advised us of a near miss involving a child due to poor parking and has sent the following information:-
The Highway code states, "DO NOT Park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space." That rule is there so vehicles turning into a junction can see pedestrians crossing the road. Here is a link to the entire rule. https://highwaycode.org.uk/rule-243/

Friends of Kirk Fenton AGM
We are delighted to have had new committee members come forward, meaning Friends of Kirk Fenton can continue to support the school.
The AGM will take place on Wednesday 2nd October, 7pm - 9pm, in the Fenton Flyer.
To hold a successful AGM we must have at least 5 non-comittee members, so if anyone would like to join to learn more about Friends and the work we've done please do come along. By attending it doesn’t mean you have to join the committee - so don’t be scared! Be curious….
