THE LAST Pevely Elementary Weekly Update of 23-24!
Good Morning Pevely Families!
We have had such an amazing school year with so many things to celebrate! It is our last full week of school with our last day being on Friday, May 24. We will start dismissal at 1:00PM on this day!
To name a few celebrations overall as a school:
- We cut our Behavior Referral number nearly in half this school year! Because of the changes made this school year, we had half as many behavioral issues as last year, 22-23. We are very proud of this because we know that if students are not in the classroom, they are not learning. We also know that frequent behavior issues in the classrooms disrupts the learning of others. With the systems we have in place, we have worked to find a solution for both situations and we are proud of the results! We always appreciate your support at home with frequent reminders of behavior expectations at school.
- Our Building Attendance was above 90% every month this school year! This is a huge celebration! Again, we know that if students are at school, they are learning and growing. Thank you for your support at home in making sure students are at school every day, on time, and ready to go!
- According to our iReady Spring Assessment, on average, Pevely Elementary students grew 125% in Reading this year and 103% in Math! Our goal is always 100% because that is around equivalent to one school-year's worth of growth. This is also the average; many students scored well above 100% growth! Such an accomplishment!
We have several classroom and grade level celebrations that I could write for days about, as well! I am so proud of the achievements made in every classroom this school year and I cannot wait to see what 2024-2025 will bring at Pevely Elementary!
Again, we always appreciate your support and we can not do what we do without the support at home. It takes a team! Please take time to celebrate with your students this summer...they have worked very hard this school year!
I wish you a relaxing, fun, and safe summer break with your family. We hope to see you at Summer School! Go do great things in June, July, and August!

Field Day Information- May 22, 2024
Our Field Day will be somewhat different this year as we have considered feedback from previous years when planning this year's event. We will be staying at Pevely Elementary and using the parking lot/field areas around the building for our Field Day rather than Pevely Park. Please see the following notes:
- If you are planning to attend during your child's time below, please park at Zion Lutheran Church or Pevely Park. Our parking lot will be closed to traffic for student safety.
- Lunch will be in the cafeteria like a normal school day, so you are welcome to pack a lunch for your child if you would like, but they will also have the option to purchase lunch like a usual day.
- Each grade level will have an assigned time outside to participate in all of the activities that we have planned during that time. Parents are welcome to attend during the outside portion of field day. The schedule is as follows:
- Kindergarten: 11AM-12PM
- 1st Grade: 9-10AM
- 2nd Grade: 10-11AM
- 3rd Grade: 2-3PM
- 4th Grade: 12-1PM
- 5th Grade: 1-2PM
- Please remember to send your students to school in comfortable clothing, PE shoes, and apply sunscreen before school. We want it to be a fun outside day!
We want to send a special "thank you" to our Special Area Teachers for always planning a fun Field Day for everyone to enjoy! They start planning months in advance and we appreciate all of the time they spend making it fun for all!
Summer 2024 Summer School!
Please join us at Pevely Elementary in June for Summer School! All K-5 students will be attending summer school at Pevely this year. Buddy Bench Competition
The PE Department is going to hold a classroom competition during the first semester of the 24-25 school year! We are asking that students bring in clean plastic lids from containers such as yogurt, cottage cheese, butter, toothpaste, milk jugs, soda bottles, etc. We cannot take lids from cleaning supplies, bleach, etc.
Why are we doing this? 🙂
A former Pevely Elementary student, Morgan Anderson, passed away from a severe asthma attack a few years ago her family has established a foundation called "Morgan S3 Foundation". Morgan was a huge advocate of volunteering and showing kindness. The foundations will take the collected lids and send them to a company that will make a "Buddy Bench" from them. We currently have one on our playground now and would love to have an additional bench in honor of Morgan! This project will not cost us anything and we will be recycling as well as creating another opportunity for kids to connect at recess. Plus, Morgan's memory will live on!
Please start collecting over the summer. We will start collecting at school in August 2024. Thank you so much for your help!
