It has been lovely to welcome children back to school this week, following what I hope has been a restful half term for everyone. It is finally starting to feel like Spring is arriving and we can move into the warmer weather with renewed energy for this half term.
This week
We have had a great start to Spring 2, with trips for our Year 6 and EYFS classes.
Year 6 went to Pontefract Town Hall on Thursday for a Barney & Echo Mindfulness Roadshow. The day included workshops from One Day, Featherstone Rovers Foundation and the Theatre Royal Wakefield. It was a a really successful day and gave the children lots to think about and things to discuss in their PSHE lessons.
Reception Class had a wonderful day at Cannon Hall Farm, finding out more about farming and seeing first-hand how the animals are cared for. As well as supporting the children's learning about farming and where our food comes from, visiting a farm is one of our 50 things!
Anti-Bullying Day
It has been wonderful to see all the children in Odd Socks today to raise awareness and spread the anti-bullying message. Each class have been having discussions about bullying, respect and how to treat each other with kindness and consideration, which is something we strive to do every day at Larks Hill.

Maths Challenges
Please remember that next week we have two non-uniform days; World Book Day on Thursday, where children can wear book inspired fancy dress, and Hands Across Wakefield on Friday (see below for more details).
I also can't wait to see the Book in a Box creations on World Book Day!
If children are feeling extra creative this weekend, we would love it if they could design an Anti Litter Poster. Winning entries will be printed and displayed around Pontefract by Pontefract Civic Society as part of the Great British Spring Clean campaign:
Guidance:
- A4 Posters hand drawn using bright colours.
- Big & bold text using your own original slogans.
- Impactful imagery to get your message across.
Exclusions:

- No computer imagery.
- No company logos (manufacturers/supermarkets).
- No pencil sketches.
Have a great weekend!
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Adams
