MAY 2024 NEWSLETTER
Hello PVA families!
As we approach the end of our remarkable first school year as PVA Lynx, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've shared together and highlight some of the memorable events and achievements that have made this year truly special.
We are immensely proud of our students' accomplishments this year. From academic achievements to personal growth, each student has made significant strides in their journey of learning and development. We celebrate their successes in various ways, including academic awards ceremonies, talent showcases, and recognition assemblies.
Our school community has thrived through active participation and engagement. We hosted several community events including Lotería, Heart to Heart and Posole & Carnival family fun nights, cultural celebrations, and volunteer opportunities. These events have strengthened our bonds and enriched the lives of everyone involved.
Creativity has flourished within our school walls, with students showcasing their talents in various artistic endeavors. From captivating performances in our school music and orchestra concerts, to stunning displays of artwork in our galleries, our students have demonstrated their passion and dedication to the arts.
Athletic excellence was on full display throughout the year, with our student athletes demonstrating skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship in every game and competition. Whether on the field, court, or track, our students have represented our school with pride and determination.
As we conclude this school year, we look forward to the opportunities and adventures that the future holds. We are committed to continuing our journey of excellence, innovation, and growth, and we are grateful for your ongoing support and partnership.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all parents, guardians, teachers, staff, and volunteers who have contributed to the success of our school community. Your dedication, passion, and commitment have made a profound difference in the lives of our students, and we are truly grateful for everything you do.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer break filled with joy, relaxation, and cherished moments with loved ones.

From the Health Office
Heads Up!
Now is a good time to remind parents to be on the alert for head lice. Head lice is a common childhood condition. All places where children get together are places where head lice can be transferred. Clean hair and home are no guarantee that head lice will not find your child. Please take a moment now and periodically throughout the year, to check your child’s hair for nits (eggs), which can usually be seen long before lice can be located. Nits are small, white to tan particles found in the hair that look a lot like dandruff, except that dandruff is loose and can be brushed from the hair, whereas nits are attached to the hair shaft and cannot be easily removed. Lice are very small (flea sized) and do not like light, so they can be hard to find. If your child is experiencing itching of the scalp or you see something in the hair and are not sure what it is, feel free to stop by the health office and allow us to check.
End of Year Medication Pick Up:
The school district cannot take responsibility for medications at school over the summer, and most medications cannot be sent home with a student. The following are the options for these medications.
- 1. Come by the school now and pick up all the medications your child will be unable to use before the last day of school, leaving us with just the right number of doses and no need for pickup on the last day of school.
- 2. Pick up the medications prior to or on the last day of school before Friday, May 24th at 11 AM. The last day of school is a half-day and generally no medications are given that day.
- 3. Make alternate arrangements with health office staff for medication pickup. This must be done before the end of the school day on the last day of school for students.
Note: medications left at school will be destroyed in accordance with Board of Health Guidelines.
If you have questions, please contact the health office at 970-613-7307.
Incoming 6th Grade Tdap Requirement:
Colorado law required students who are entering sixth grade to receive a tetanus-diptheria-pertussis (Tdap) vaccine before their first day of school. Please be sure to contact your health care provider to schedule this immunization.
Sincerely,
Lisa
School Nurse
