MARCH NEWSLETTER
Greeting Blackhawk families,
As we welcome the month of March, we also step into one of the busiest and most important times of the school year. The third grading period officially ends on March 14, marking the beginning of the final nine weeks. It is incredible to think that we are in the home stretch of another school year!
This time of year is filled with academic deadlines, assessments, extracurricular activities, and preparations for the many events that will lead us to the final days of school. As always, your partnership is essential in ensuring that students remain engaged, attend school consistently, and put forth their personal best each day. Communication between school and home is a critical component of student success, and we appreciate your support in keeping students focused and prepared.
I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued dedication to your child’s education and for being an integral part of our school community. With a collective, "all hands on deck" approach, I am confident that we will navigate this busy season successfully. Let’s work together to make these final weeks productive, meaningful, and rewarding for all of our students.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to finishing this school year strong alongside you!
Yours in education,
Alissa Schnick
Principal

2025-2026 ACADEMIC CALENDAR (SEE IMAGE BELOW)
On December 11, 2024, the MSD of New Durham Township Board of Trustees approved the academic calendar for the 2025-2026 school year. Please be aware of the following features of this calendar:
- The first day of school for students will be Wednesday, August 13.
- The last day of school for students is currently scheduled to be May 29. The week of June 1-5 may be used for additional snow make-up days, if needed. Graduation will be held on June 6.
- One snow-make up day has been scheduled in the second semester (highlighted in purple on the calendar). This day will be used as an in-session day if we need to cancel school at any point for inclement weather. If inclement weather cancellations are not needed, the day will become a vacation day. Please be very careful planning anything for this day as there is a good chance that we will end up being in session on that day.
