Edsby
Dear Parents and Guardians,
With the implementation of Edsby this year as our new gradebook software, we felt it necessary to
provide you with an update of where we are at in working with this technology. Teachers have been
working diligently to make sense of this new program, however, as with any new initiative, there are often unanticipated barriers that appear along the way - our work with Edsby being no exception. As we have progressed in our work, several technological issues have presented themselves, some of which have made it impossible for certain classes to generate a gradebook.
We are currently working to sort these issues out with the software engineers at Edsby, but it will require time. As such, we have decided to push our reporting date for Grades 7-12 back by two weeks to November 22nd. This will hopefully allow us the time we need to work out any issues and produce an accurate report card.
This means that our student-led conferences (formerly known as parent-teacher interviews) for Grades 7-12 will be pushed back to November 27th and 28th from 4-7 P.M.. More details will follow regarding the conferences.
Teachers have been collecting evidence of learning this semester as they normally would, and all have the grades required to construct a gradebook. This means that, in the meantime, if you are concerned about your child’s performance please do not hesitate to reach out to them as they will be able to give you an informed look at how your child is doing.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your understanding in this matter as we work to provide a progress report we can be confident in. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Yours in education,
Corry Raugust - Principal
Ryan Wales - Vice Principal
Ryan Duckworth - Vice Principal

Hanna Community School Enhancement Society (HCSES)
Hanna Community School Enhancement Society (HCSES) is hosting its AGM
November 26, 2024 at 7:30pm!
HCSES was established in 2015, following the announcement of the
amalgamation of the Hanna Primary School and J. C. Charyk School. The
group consisted of a dedicated group of parents and community members
whose initial goal was fundraising specifically for playground equipment
for the planned K-12 school. The group hosted fundraising events
including the highly supported Duelling Pianos fundraiser, applied for
government grants, and solicited donations; ultimately securing the
funds to purchase playground equipment for the modernized K-12 J.C.
Charyk Hanna School. Since that initial goal, HCSES has continued to
support J.C. Charyk Hanna School student projects and initiatives which
benefit multiple students over many years including:
- Project-based learning costs
- Purchasing an outdoor storage shed
- Supplementing playground equipment
And most recently, HCSES purchased:
- 40 girls volleyball jerseys and 70 boys basketball uniforms!
These purchases enrich the experiences of students at J.C. Charyk Hanna
School and HCSES cannot exist without the support of parents and
community members.
HCSES is seeking volunteers in order to continue to run the Society!
Please join us Nov 26!
