Shark Tales Weekly Update
Sheiko Elementary: May 17, 2024
PRINCIPAL UPDATE
Hello Sheiko Sharks!
From the Oakland County Art Show to the 4th grade "Spring Sing" to the 3rd grade trip to the zoo, I am a very proud principal! The end of the year is a time to reflect on all of the growth of the year, and look forward to new adventures!
This week's "Big Announcement" is about NWEA. Most students have finished their NWEA reading. On Wednesday and Thursday, students will be taking their NWEA math test. If at all possible, please schedule appointments around these days. Please also make sure that your student gets a good night's sleep and that they eat a good breakfast.
We can't thank you enough for all of your support for all that you do! We hope to see you at our end of the year activities!
Goooooooooooooooooo Sheiko Sharks!

IMPORTANT DISMISSAL INFORMATION
We are asking all families to use the car line. We have had some close calls with cars squeezing in between buses, and could not get the ambulance into the parking lot when needed, so we want to be sure that the bus loop is clear for safety reasons.

WEEK 22
Weekly SEL Family Activity:
Baking cookies with kids can get a little messy, but who doesn’t like a home filled with smiling faces and the smells of fresh-baked cookies? It doesn’t matter whether it’s snickerdoodles, oatmeal raisin, or simple chocolate chips, spend an entire day just baking. The one who does the most work gets to lick the spoon!
SAVE THESE DATE!
FRIENDLY REMINDERS
Spring is upon us and students should be prepared for warmer/wetter weather. Please have your student bring extra clothes (pants & socks) to keep in their locker.
Please label everything. It will help eliminate the need for a Lost & Found table.
We are asking that students leave their smart watches at home. They have proven to be a huge distraction to teaching and learning. Students may have phones (but totally not necessary!) as long as they are powered down and in their backpacks. Students will have one reminder to put them away. Otherwise, these items will be turned into the office for parent pick up if they are out.Thank you for your support in this matter!
SICK POLICY INFORMATION
To protect all children from communicable illnesses, students infected with certain diseases are not allowed to come to school while they are contagious. Students should be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please call our Safeline (248-865-6372) if your child will be absent from school. We also have a masking station at the front of the building in which students are welcome to help themselves. For more information regarding the sick policy, please see the attached document.
