Viking News - The Week 2/12/2024
6/3/2024
Happy Friday, RMS Families,
Wow! Another exciting week as we wrap up May and head into June this coming week. The 8th graders have had the adventure of a lifetime in Washington, DC this week! A huge thank you to the chaperones for dedicating so much of their time to make this experience happen for our kids. Back at RMS, we have enjoyed welcoming the 5th graders into our community through a variety of transition experiences this past week. The current 6th graders have been outstanding leaders as they led group discussions at the elementary school and helped the teachers prepare their classrooms for student tours and events.
This coming week, the 8th graders will take their final MCAS exam of the year for Civics on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please be sure your 8th graders are in school and on-time to participate in this important state exam.
I look forward to celebrating and coming together with many of you over the coming weeks as we wrap up the 2023-2024 school year.
Here's to a great week ahead! 😎
-Ms. Rose

RMS Summer Reading Program
We are excited to reveal the book titles for the RMS Summer Reading Program and provide families with time to peruse the titles.
After utilizing multiple sources (book lists, librarians and English teacher input), a diverse group of titles was selected in hopes that we will engage all readers. That being said, please note that the proposed books may not be appropriate for all readers. Given the wide variety of content, themes, text complexity, format, and language usage, please support your child in making a decision that makes the most sense for your family. Students will have an opportunity to preview the titles in the classroom, making a selection at the end of May or beginning of June.
Check out our summer reading website for more information and to view the selected titles. For students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, your child’s required reading will include one book from our website and one book of your child’s preference.
If you need guidance, reach out to Kriisten Fauci (kfauci@rpk12.org). We hope that you find a compelling read on this list.

2024-2025 High School Schedules - For Current 8th Graders
High School student schedules for the 2024-2025 school year will be posted in Aspen later today Friday, May 31st and will be open through Thursday, June 13th to allow students the opportunity to review their courses and make any necessary adjustments with their Guidance Counselors in preparation for the upcoming academic year. As this is a very busy time of the year, we appreciate your patience in allowing us the grace we need to get through the requests in a comprehensive manner. Rest assured, we are committed to getting through this process with all students before we leave for the summer.
To review student schedules, please login to your Aspen account and view them under published reports. *Please note that new teachers are not yet reflected in students’ schedules and will not be until after the formal Aspen rollover in late July. Ms. Rose is currently listed in any classes with new teachers as a placeholder. Stay tuned for updated new staffing information to come over the summer!👍
