Skyward Family Access - Absence Notes
Did you know that Skyward Family Access allows you to submit absence/attendance notes electronically? If you know your student will be missing school, simply launch your Skyward mobile app and submit an absence request through Family Access. Your campus attendance clerk will be notified and can excuse the absence in just a few clicks! While campuses can still accept paper notes from families, this added feature is intended to streamline family communication with campus staff regarding student absences.
For more information on how to do this, please visit www.pisd.edu/FamilyAccessHelp.
Free and Reduced Lunch Eligibility
Households who wish to apply for free or reduced-priced meals will need to complete an online federal meal application for the current school year via the website at www.pisd.edu/mealprogram.
Applications will be processed within 10 business days. Eligibility notification letters will be sent via email. If families have not received the letter in their inbox, please check junk and spam folders.
For any questions regarding federal meal applications, please contact mealprograms@pisd.edu.
Shepton Communication Protocol
September is designated as Attendance Awareness Month. Regular student attendance and increased family engagement are vital for student academic success and overall development. Each month, the Student, Family and Community Services department will host monthly Attendance Parent Engagement Sessions featuring video recordings and PowerPoint presentations available in both English and Spanish. This month's session will focus on "Attendance-Promoting Tips for Parents," facilitated by Sharon Bradley (English) and Dr. Saul Laredo (Spanish).

Help Our Community With Lovepacs!
Lovepacs needs your help to continue to serve 1000 Plano ISD students for the upcoming school year. Born out of a desire to help children in need, Lovepacs was created to provide meals to students who would otherwise go hungry during school holidays. Through coordination with local schools and its volunteers, Lovepacs engages communities to feed children as an expression of love.
There are several ways to contribute. Donate online, shop the Amazon Wishlist, shop the Walmart Wishlist, or shop and drop off at one of the Lovepacs dropoff locations.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get the Shepton weekly e-mails? Join School Messenger @ https://www.pisd.edu/schoolmessenger
How do I get the PTSA weekly e-mails? Visit the PTSA website https://sheptonptsa.membershiptoolkit.com/ to join the email list.
What are the school hours? 1st period begins promptly at 9:05am and 7th period ends at 4:30 pm daily. The building opens at 8:20 am (Downstairs B-Hall entrance). Students will wait in the cafeteria or attend tutorials with a note. We have staff supervision at all entrance points.
Where is the cafeteria menu? The menu is posted on the PISD website and in the cafeteria.
How do I bring lunch to my child? Lunches may be delivered to the Main Office. If your child knows you are bringing lunch, please notify them to pick it up in the Main Office.
Due to federal guidelines (FMNV), you may only bring your own child lunch, and we do not allow for students to have food delivered from restaurants (this includes all food delivery services).
What if my child left something at school, what is the policy? Please tell your student to report to the Lost and Found. Is your child missing a lunch bag? Gym clothing? Electronics? Check the lost and found located in the Student Center in the front office.
Does high school have early release? Yes, students are released early during the week of semester exams at the end of each semester. Shepton does not have any other early release days.
What if I arrive late to school? If your student is arriving late to school in the morning, they should come to the attendance office and sign themselves in. Students should bring a note giving a reason for their late arrival.
We recommend getting to Shepton no later than 8:50am to ensure you are entering the building before the 5 minute warning bell at 8:55am.
Multiple Late arrivals will ultimately result in a referral to the PISD Attendance Review Board (PARB). Excessive tardies and absences will then be referred to Collin County Truancy Court.
How can my child attend tutorials? Tutorials are a great resource for all students regardless of the grade they are making in the class. You can receive a little more help, ask questions, prepare for tests, etc. To attend tutorials either obtain a pass from your teacher the day before you plan to attend, or provide a note from parents. Please follow teacher’s tutorial schedules as they may have other duties or meetings on other days of the week. You may also attend another teacher’s tutorials if needed. Talk with the teachers about this possibility. It’s a good idea to bring questions to ask.
Medication: If your child needs medication at school contact the nurse prior to school starting. Students are prohibited from carrying medication with them at school. If you have specific questions or concerns on this topic, see the nurse.
