School Parent Compact
J. E. Woodard Elementary School 2024-25
What is a School-Parent Compact? A School-Parent Compact is an agreement that families, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how families and teachers will work together to make sure all students are successful. The Woodard School-Parent Compact is discussed and given out at our annual Parent Orientation.
Jointly Developed
The families, students, and staff at Woodard Elementary School developed this School-Parent Compact during our Leadership Team Meetings in April. Meetings are held throughout the year to review the compact and make changes based on student needs. Copies of the Compact are given out at our annual Parent Orientation in August.
Families are welcome to contribute comments and suggestions at any time.

Woodard Elementary School (931) 380-2872Our Mission To provide a safe place where students embrace learning, achieve goals, and reach their “PAW POWER” potential every day. Students will: Talk with my family about new vocabulary words and concepts I learn in Math. Read each night for 30 minutes! Complete assignments at home when given. Discuss with my parents when I achieve a goal! Bring home newsletters and invitations for Family Engagement Nights! Show Paw Power each day!
At School Each classroom at Woodard will work with students and families to support students’ success in reading and math. Some of our connections with families will be to: v Offer Parent/Teacher conferences 2 times during the school year. v Offer special sessions and community resources throughout the school year. v Provide newsletters that outline expectations. v Use Remind and Dojo apps for specific reminders and needs. v Hold Reading, math, and STEM sessions at family nights. v Provide and discuss a list of standards and goals for the school year.
Ways Families can help at home: o Check parent communication folder daily. o Look for classroom newsletters. o Come to Woodard to participate in family engagement activities. o Read to your child and let your child read to you. o Practice math facts with your child. o Ask your child about their day. o Monitor your child’s homework. o Attend parent teacher conferences. o Make sure your child comes to school each day and on time. o Check Class Dojo and Remind frequently. o Make sure you are on Parent Portal. o Limit the time your child spends on devices, unless it is educational. o When possible, encourage use of I Ready at home to reinforce concepts taught in grades 1-4.
Activities to Build Partnerships
Activities will be planned to meet the needs of our parents. Questionnaires are sent home at the beginning of the year and multiple times throughout the year to better help us meet parents’ needs. Please be on the lookout for our updates sent in parent communication folders.
