Principal's Message
Dear Lord,
As we step into this new week,
we are grateful for the opportunities to learn and grow.
We ask for Your blessings on our school community.
May our classrooms be filled with enthusiasm
and our hearts with compassion.
Grant our teachers the wisdom to inspire and the patience to guide.
Help our students to embrace challenges with courage
and to support one another with kindness.
Let our school be a beacon of hope
and a place where everyone feels valued and respected.
We pray for the health and safety of our families and friends.
May we all find strength in Your love and comfort in Your presence.
Amen
Feast of St Simon and Jude
On October 28th, we celebrate the Feast of St. Simon and St. Jude. These two saints were among Jesus’ twelve apostles, which means they were some of His closest friends and followers.
St. Simon is sometimes called Simon the Zealot because he was very passionate about his faith. He traveled far and wide to tell people about Jesus
St. Jude is the patron saint of our school. He is also known as Jude Thaddeus. He is often called the patron saint of lost causes because people pray to him when they need help with difficult problems.
St. Simon and St. Jude are celebrated on the same day because they worked together to spread Jesus’ teachings. They traveled to many places, including Persia (which is now Iran), to share the Good News. Sadly, they were both martyred for their faith, which means they died because they believed in Jesus.
St. Simon and St. Jude teach us the importance of being brave and sharing our faith with others. They remind us to be strong in our beliefs and to help those who are struggling.
We look forward to celebrating their feast day on Monday next week, with a whole school Mass at 9am in the morning, our Mission Markets after recess, and our St Jude's Got Talent after lunch. As we celebrate our special day, let’s remember to be kind, courageous, and to support one another, just like St. Simon and St. Jude did.
Families are welcome to join us for two Masses next week:
1. Monday 28 October: St Simon and Jude Feast day
2. Friday 1 November: All Saints Day
Important Announcement: Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Cancellation
We regret to inform you that due to a shortage of parent volunteers, we are unable to proceed with the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle fundraiser scheduled for November 3rd.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the members of the Friends of St. Jude’s (FOSJ) committee and to the parents who generously offered their time to assist us. Your willingness to support our school community is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Call for Nominations: School Advisory Council and FOSJ Committee 2025
We are still seeking nominations for our School Advisory Council and the Friends of St. Jude’s (FOSJ) Committee for 2025. These two important teams ensure that the parent voice is heard and included in our school community.
With some of our current members moving on as their children transition to high school, we urgently need new parents to step forward and consider nominating for a position. Information about the council and the FOSJ was sent home to every family last week.
Your involvement is crucial in helping us continue to make St. Jude’s a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow. Please consider nominating for one of these very important teams.
School Disco
As we prepare for our school disco this afternoon, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who have volunteered their time and effort to make this event a success. Your support and enthusiasm are truly appreciated.
Events like these are only possible because of the dedication and generosity of our school community. Whether you help with planning, setting up, or will be assisting during the disco, your contributions make a significant difference.
We look forward to a fun-filled afternoon and are grateful for your continued support.

CEWA Child Safe Framework
Have you heard of the CEWA Child Safe Framework?
Last term we looked at the 3 key concepts that underpin the CEWA Child Safe Framework and the nine elements that combined, help us to make decisions surrounding child safety in the school.
In the coming weeks, we will continue to unpack one of these nine elements each week and how St Jude's ensures that each element is being addressed.
This week's focus is:
Quality Assurance
Systematic, continual improvement is evident through ongoing evaluation and assessment.
What does this look like?
- Our school regularly reviews the way it does things and shares this information with us.
- Students and families are consulted in reviews and audits.
- At St Jude's we:
- Schedule regular review of all school procedures every 2-3 years. (Some procedures reviewed annually).
- Use data from our climate survey (involving students and parents) to inform decisions regarding school procedures and school improvement.
- Conduct an annual self assessment of this child safe framework to ensure a high standard is met.
- Hierarchy outlining the different levels for lodging a concern or complaint: Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, CEWA
The role of the Director General
The Director General of the Department of Education is responsible for ensuring that the school observes the registration standards, including the standard about its complaints handling system. Any student, parent or community member is entitled to contact the Director General with concerns about how the school has dealt with a complaint. Information is available on the Department of Education website. While the Director General may consider whether the school has breached the registration standards, the Director General does not have power to intervene in a complaint or override the school’s decision.
Have a great weekend!
