It has been a wonderful week here at Greenwood!
Thank you so much for supporting your students and partnering with us this year! Being on time and ready to learn each day is incredibly important to their success, and we appreciate all you do to help make that happen.
This week, we had our first all-school assembly in years, where students were reminded of our core values: RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and SAFETY. We use a system called PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). PBIS is a framework used in schools to promote positive behavior and help students understand and own their actions. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors, while providing support for students who need it. By using PBIS, we aim to create a safe, respectful, and responsible learning environment for all.
Your student learned ways they can take ownership of their behavior and show leadership, which you can read more about below. You can also help by having conversations with your student about how being safe, respectful, and responsible is important at school.
It was so fun to see everyone gathered together, coming together as one Greenwood community. Thank you for being a part of this special journey with us!
In partnership,
Reba McNally, Greenwood Principal

Masked Mascot - PBIS Incentive
I’m excited to share that students can now apply to be the "masked mascot"! This opportunity is for students who demonstrate exemplary behavior reflecting our values of safety, responsibility, and respect. Those selected will dress as our mascot, with this fun event taking place monthly at the start of the school day.
To apply, students will need references from both a parent and a teacher. Applications will be available in the main office or in your child’s classroom beginning next week. Please remember that if your child applies and is not selected, I will keep their application on file for future consideration.
The selected student each month will be revealed on our broadcast, where we will also share the reasons for their selection. Attached is the application so you can see the process.
Thank you for encouraging your child to embody our core values, and I look forward to seeing who will take on this exciting role!
PAW Slip Incentive
I’m excited to share another PBIS incentive we have in place: earning paw slips! Any staff member can give these slips to students who demonstrate our core values at school. Each week, all paw slips will be entered into a drawing every Friday.
Students whose paw slips are pulled will have the opportunity to enjoy a special board game recess with a staff member. This is a fun way for students to engage with our school community and feel even more connected to Greenwood.
Secret Lunch/Recess Student
Finally we have introduced one final PBIS incentive connected to lunch and recess! Each week, I will be selecting a secret lunch and recess student who demonstrates exemplary behavior throughout the week during that time. This special student will have the opportunity to walk around the school with me the following Monday morning to say "good morning" to everyone.
This is another fun way to recognize positive behavior and encourage our students to shine!
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a positive school environment.

Safety & Security
Below is an outline of our new entry procedures for the all Lakeview buildings districtwide, which will take effect on the first day of school (August 26th). These updates are being implemented to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
New Procedures:
Entry: To maintain security, no adult can enter the main office without an appointment or scheduled event. Families must remain outside and show their IDs to the camera for the secretaries to verify via PowerSchool records.
QR Code: A QR code will be posted with information about specific situations or scenarios. When scanned, the QR code will direct you to a form, which will be reviewed promptly, and an appointment will be created if needed.
Student Early Pick-Up: If you need to pick up your student(s) early, please come to the main office and show your ID through the camera at the entrance. You’ll then wait outside for your student to be dismissed. The secretaries will document the pick-up, including the reason and time.
Dropping Off Items: If you need to drop off something for your student(s), a green cart will be available in the vestibule. This is where you can leave items like lunches, gym shoes, etc. We will provide markers and masking tape so you can label the item.
Scheduled Meetings: If you have a scheduled meeting, Mrs. Dani will confirm your appointment via our speaker system and check that it is on the schedule. Feel free to call ahead to confirm or schedule an appointment.
As we implement these new procedures, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Our priority is to keep the building safe while ensuring you have a positive experience at Greenwood. These measures are designed to minimize variables and enhance the security of our school community. Thank you for your cooperation!
Free Lunch & Breakfast
All students have access to free breakfast and lunch, every day! Breakfast will open at 7:45am in the cafeteria before school begins each day. Please have your student in line by 7:55 if they are having school breakfast. Students should enter through the 5th grade entrance on the above map for breakfast.

Our PTO at Greenwood hosts many amazing events throughout the year! If you think that you will ever be interested in volunteering, please fill out the volunteer consent form below and return to the main office at the start of the school year. This consents a background check. A cleared background check is required to volunteer for events, field trips, assemblies, etc. It is best to have one on file just in case! This must be completed every school year.
