CELEBRATE YOUR CHILD'S BIRTHDAY ON THE MARQUEE!
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
If you would like to walk your student up to the front doors in the mornings for arrival, you may park at the neighborhood pool across the street and use the crosswalk path on Keith Harrow. Refrain from parking in the staff parking lot, neighborhood, or alongside the street.
Thank you for partnering with us and playing a vital role in keeping our students safe by monitoring your child’s cell phone activity and messaging outside of school.
Please read and adhere to the policies and procedures we have in place to keep everyone safe.
- Send any pictures you have of Wilson events throughout the year to p.wilson2025@yahoo.com the email on the yearbook flyer so they can be added.
SAFETY FIRST
Street Safety Tips
- Always Use Crosswalks: Choose the safest path. Cross at designated crosswalks or intersections. It's the safest way to get across the street.
- Look Left, Right, and Left Again: Before crossing, stop and look both ways to ensure no cars are approaching.
- Wait for the Walk Signal: If there is a traffic light or pedestrian signal, wait for the "walk" sign before crossing.
- Make Eye Contact with Drivers: Make sure that drivers see you before crossing in front of a car.
- Avoid Distractions: When crossing the street, do not use phones, headphones, or other items that can distract you. Stay alert and focused.
- Be Aware of Turning Vehicles: Even when the light is green, look out for cars turning the corner or making unexpected moves.
- Walk, Don’t Run: Walk, don’t run, across the street to avoid tripping or not noticing oncoming traffic.

WATCH D.O.G.S. ® (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center For Fathering. It began in 1998 in a single school in Springdale, Arkansas and has since grown into a nationally recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into our nation’s classrooms and hallways. WATCH D.O.G.S. ® has created millions of “in school” volunteer hours and continues to have a tremendously positive impact on the educational process. Today more than 4049 schools in 46 states plus DC participate in WATCH D.O.G.S. ®

TITLE 1
PARENT'S RIGHT TO KNOW
As a parent of a student at a campus receiving Title I funds, federal law allows you to ask for information about the certification, college major, and advanced degrees of your child’s teacher(s). You also have the right to request information about the qualifications of a teacher, aide or paraprofessional providing direct services to your child. If you would like to receive this information, you may contact the Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. Human Resources Department at 281-897-4099.

PBIS
Restorative practices are a set of approaches focused on building relationships, repairing harm, and fostering accountability in communities, schools, and workplaces. The idea is to create a supportive environment where people feel safe, valued, and respected. Rather than focusing on punishment or retribution when something goes wrong, restorative practices emphasize dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect. For example, it might look like the following (below). Students gaining insight take accountability for their actions and take the steps to mend & restore relationships.
CLINIC REMINDERS
There has been a change to CFISD medication administration policy this school year.
The clinic will no longer be able to accept any over the counter medicine or cough drops (exceptions are Tylenol, Motrin/Ibuprofen, or Benadryl) without a doctor’s note or medication permission form signed by a doctor.
**All prescribed medication will also have to be accompanied by a doctor’s note, action plan, or medication permission form signed by their doctor.**
For the safety of all of our students, per district policy, please do not send medicine of any kind in your students’ pockets, backpacks, or lunch kits. An adult will need to bring all medication to the clinic to sign it in for their students, along with appropriate forms signed by the doctor.
Flu season is in full swing so we will need your help to keep our students as healthy as possible. Keeping a sick child with fever home also protects other children and their teachers from spreading illnesses person to person.
***District policy: Students are not allowed at school the following day after being sent home from school with fever (temp 100 or higher), and they must be 24 hours fever free without using Tylenol/Motrin before returning to school.***
If your student wakes up feeling hot/warm, please do not give them Tylenol or Motrin and send them to school. Temporarily masking a fever with medication does not change the fact that your child could be in the contagious period of an illness and could spread the illness to others at school. A sick child who is unable to participate in school in a meaningful way should be kept home to rest and recover until symptoms resolve.
Please call the school nurse if your student has tested positive for covid, and/or if you have questions about when it is safest or appropriate to have students return to school following an illness.
It is strongly advised for students of all ages to keep a change of clothes from home in their backpacks at all times in case of accidents, spills, or soiled clothes.
If your student has received a letter that they failed their vision screening, please take them to an eye doctor of your choice and return the vision form to the nurse. A large percentage of learning is visual so it’s important your students are seeing his/her best.
Thank you for helping to keep our school safe!
