FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
Can you believe there is only one more week until Christmas Break? We're already two weeks into the 2nd trimester!
As the year continues to fly by, I invite you to take a few minutes to provide us with some feedback on how the year is going so far by responding to our parent survey. You can find the survey here: http://bit.ly/FJVDParentSurvey All survey responses are anonymous, and your feedback will help guide the continued enhancement of our school. Thank you for your participation and candid responses!
As we continue to progress through the year, and particularly with inclement weather upon us, a few reminders regarding drop-off procedures to assist in maintaining safety during morning arrivals:
Drop-Off Procedures
The spaces located in front of the gym are for drop-off only. These spaces are not permitted for parking at any time. This includes during afternoon pick-up.
If you are dropping your child off in the morning and do not plan on going into the school, please utilize these spaces. Please do not drive to the front door of the school for drop off. This is a Fire Lane and Bus Lane, and therefore drop-off is not permitted here. In the case of inclement weather, our grounds crew is diligent in ensuring that the sidewalk by the drop-off spaces is safe for our students to walk to the building.
Please see the attached parking lot diagram for more information.
Tardy Policy & Procedure
Any student arriving after the 8:00am tardy bell must sign in the tardy log located in the main office. Mrs. Jarvis will be present with the log to assist with this process. In accordance with the handbook, students arriving after the 8:00am tardy bell may not proceed to the gym or their classrooms until they are signed into the log.
Thank you for taking time to understand and adhere to these policies in order to keep our drop off running smoothly each morning!
As Christmas approaches, I invite all families to join us for our annual Christmas Paraliturgy on Friday, December 20th, 1:15pm. The paraliturgy features student-lead prayers, readings, reflections, and musical performances from across grades K-8. The service will be a beautiful way to prepare for the coming of Christmas. I look forward to seeing you there!
Finally, as we continue through this Advent season, please know of my continued prayers for you and your families.

The Nurse's Corner
Important Reminders for the Winter Season:
- Please call the school when your child is absent and let us know the reason. This let's us know your child is safe at home with you. In addition, if your child has an illness that is contagious, such as strep throat, it is important that we are able to notify other parents that their child may have been exposed to an illness and to watch for signs & symptoms.
- Now that the COLD weather has arrived, please ensure your child has appropriate cold weather attire (i.e. hats, mittens). So long as the temperature is considered safe, students will go outside for recess to get fresh air and play. The RI Department of Education states that outdoor recess should be 15-20 minutes (1-2 times a day) outside as long as the temperature is 32 degrees or above with the wind chill factored in.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up
Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
