WMHS Weekly Information
Starting the 2024-2025 School Year
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Zebra Families,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! We are excited for the first official day of school on Tuesday, August 27, and are looking forward to partnering and working with you to make this an outstanding school year.
As your administrative team, we are truly honored to be a part of such a great community and are deeply committed to having a positive impact on your child’s life. It is important to us that each and every person that walks into our building is safe, feels welcomed, and is provided the best educational experience. We will accomplish this by setting high attendance, academic, and social standards for all of our students and providing a support system to ensure that those expectations are being met for every student at Wayne Memorial High School.
Your high school leadership team brings vast experience and expectations that will focus on establishing a positive school culture by setting high standards for our staff, increasing academic performance for all of our students, and engaging our community. Our expectation for all of our students is to graduate high school and be college and/or career ready. #WaynePride
In running our building with these core values we will need your support, as there will be rewards when we have successes and consequences if a student falls short in these areas. Together we will truly make a difference in the lives of every Zebra that attends Wayne Memorial. We are a school family, a community family, and together we will change and save lives. #StrongerTogether
We recognize that in order for our students to reach their full potential, we must develop and maintain collaboration where we are working together, both at home and in school. Parents/Guardians, you are our foundation! Research shows that with stronger parent/guardian participation in the school setting, students will have better attendance, higher grades, increased State test scores, and a decrease in discipline issues at school. #AllHandsOnDeck
We look forward to working with you, in developing trust with you, and building a positive relationship with you this school year through continued outreach and communication.
*Please make sure that we have the most up to date email, phone number, and home address in MISTAR for you as I /we will be sending the great majority of the WMHS weekly communications to you through emails and phone call messages.
We thank you for your support and are looking forward to meeting you. Please feel free to contact us at any time. #ZebraNation
Sincerely,
Mr. Cory J. Gildersleeve
