Gables students celebrate their culture
Thank you to all the wonderful students and families who made Multicultural Night at Gables Elementary such a vibrant and memorable event! We are so grateful for the delicious food you shared from around the world—every dish was a beautiful reflection of your heritage and generosity. A special thank you to those who performed traditional dances; Swati Gupta, Isabella Amaya Perez, Maissoun Traka, Drishya Kumar, and The Ohio State University Folclor Hipano and Dance of the Soul groups; your energy, talent, and pride in your culture truly lit up the evening and reminded us of the rich diversity that makes our school community so special. We appreciate each of you for helping us celebrate and learn from one another in such a joyful and meaningful way.
Next week we will begin Ohio State Math Testing, we want to emphasize the importance of being prepared to help our students show what they’ve learned this year. These assessments are an opportunity for students to demonstrate their math skills and progress and being well-rested and focused can make a big difference. To support this, we encourage families to maintain consistent routines, ensure a good night’s sleep, and arrive to school on time.
Spring Break is also a perfect opportunity to recharge! Reminder that next Thursday is an early release day and students will be dismissed at 3pm and will be off on Friday the 18th for the start of Spring Break. Consider balancing light academic review with fun and relaxation while your families are on break; whether it's enjoying time outdoors, reading together, or simply unwinding as a family. A refreshed mind and body will help students return ready to do their best as we head into the end of the year.
We love to learn.

School Counselor Update
Grief – “You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.” – Bob Marley
We are reminded daily to hug the ones we love and cherish every moment together. When a child experiences loss, there is no “right way” to grieve. Grief is personal, ever-changing, and looks different for everyone. It’s important to remind your child that it’s OK to feel sad, and it’s also OK to feel happy.
The 3 C’s of Grief—Choose, Connect, Communicate are supportive strategies to help navigate grief and begin healing by making thoughtful choices, building connections, and expressing emotions.
-
Choose: Help your child understand that they can still make healthy choices during grief, such as eating well, staying active, getting enough rest, or choosing to be with supportive people.
-
Connect: Encourage your child to spend time with loved ones and those who understand what they’re going through. Sharing happy memories can be a powerful step toward healing.
-
Communicate: Let your child know it’s okay to talk about their grief and ask for support. Encourage open conversations about their feelings and needs.
As always, I’m just a phone call away.
