The Literacy Link
K-5 English and Language Arts is under the leadership of Reading Specialist, Letitia Hopkins. Below is an overview of our program.
We use the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.
We have a comprehensive literacy curriculum.
K-5 Reading has 3 tiers:
- Tier I: Whole Group for all students
- Tier II: Instructional leveled support
- Tier III : Targeted, intensive intervention
The classroom resources that we utliize are:
- Wonders
- Fundations
- Open Court
- Heggerty/Bridge the Gap
- DIBELS 8 (K-5)
The Calculation Information Station
K-5 Mathematics is under the leadership of Math Specialist, Angela Guy. Below is an overview of our program.
We use the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.
We follow the Illustrative Math Curriculum.
We have Math Workshop with flexible grouping to address student needs.

The Great Attendance Race!
Each month classrooms are striving to achieve a 94% attendance rate. If this is achieved, their class car moves down the track. At the end of the year, the class whose car is in the lead wins the grand prize!
FES - A Title 1 School
What is Title 1?
A federal program to help all students get a good education and meet academic standards.
Part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 and reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) 2015.
Targeted at meeting the needs of the neediest children
Number/percent participating in free/reduced lunch program
Focused on reading, math & science curriculum
Parents Right to Know
A parent may request the follow information:
Any college or university degree, major or certification held by the teacher
Whether the teacher is certified by the State of Maryland to teach a particular grade level or subject area
Whether the teacher holds a conditional teaching certificate
The qualifications of the paraprofessionals serving the student
Parents may also request information on the level of achievement and academic growth of their child, if applicable and available, on each of the State academic assessments.
Parents will receive timely notice if the student has been assigned, or has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet applicable State certification or licensure requirements at the grade level and subject area in which the teacher has been assigned.

Complete the Student Benefits Form Today!
The 2024-25 Student Benefits Form (Household Income Data Collection) information is used to help provide school meals at no charge to all students, along with other districtwide services. It also provides individual benefits to students and families such as:
discounts for summer and recreational programs
Discount internet access
Discounted fees for SAT and AP testing and college applications
Increased scholarship opportunities
eligibility for Maryland Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)]
Increased funding to the school system to support instruction, technology, student services, and programs like Community Schools, tutoring and free meals.
