Quick Reminder of Award Opportunities & Nomination Deadlines
The MSU Alumni Association Emerging Scholar Award, the MSU Alumni Association Distinguished Researcher Award, and the Presidential Research Award are selected by the Research Policy Committee, a faculty advisory committee to the Provost. The University Distinguished Mentor Award is award by the Office of the Provost in collaboration with the Office of Research and Creative Activity (ORCA).
University Distinguished Mentor Award
- Selected by the Office of the Provost and ORCA
- Deadline to nominate: January 26, 2024
- $1000 stipend, plaque, and name added to a permanent plaque in the Office of the Provost
- Awarded in recognition of sustained partnership of mutual concern significantly fostering students’ intellectual, ethical and academic development above and beyond expectations of even excellent advising and teaching.
- Faculty, staff, students, and alumni may submit nominations.
Presidential Research Award
- Selected every other year by the Research Policy Committee
- Deadline to apply: February 6, 2024
- $6500 stipend plus an additional $650 in support, supply, and travel funds
- Applicants must be full-time faculty, professional staff, or administrative faculty and must be engaged in research, scholarship, or creative activity that results in a significant contribution to their professional field.
MSU Alumni Association 2024 Distinguished Researcher Award in Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts
- Selected by the Research Policy Committee
- Deadline to nominate: February 6, 2024
- $1000 cash award, and recipient's name engraved on a plaque in the Alumni Center
- Colleagues, collaborators, departments, schools/colleges, or recognized campus organizations may nominate faculty for the award.
- Any person who is employed as a full-time member of the faculty shall be eligible for nomination regardless of faculty rank or title if he/she satisfies the remaining qualification.
- Areas of research considered for this award alternate from year to year.
MSU Alumni Association 2024 Emerging Scholar Award
- Selected by the Research Policy Committee
- Deadline to Nominate: February 6, 2024
- Two prizes are awarded: one in STEM areas and one in SSHA areas. Each award is $500, and each recipient's name will be engraved on a plaque in the Alumni Center.
- Colleagues, collaborators, departments, schools/colleges, or recognized campus organizations may nominate faculty for the award.
- Faculty holding a full-time tenure-track appointment and having no more than five years of academic experience in a tenure-track position are eligible. Nominations/applications can include work performed prior to joining Murray State.
