WHAT'S UP WEDNESDAY ERIN SCHOOL
August 28, 2024
WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL ROADRUNNERS!
A newsletter on Wednesday rather than Friday? What's up with that? As part of our parent survey last year we received feedback that Friday is a tough day to get a newsletter. From that feedback, What's Up Wednesday was created. Each Wednesday, you will receive this school-wide newsletter! That survey also told us that 93% of our families would recommend Erin School to a friend! Thanks for partnering with us to provide each child at Erin school an amazing and WILD year of learning!

IT WAS A BUSY SUMMER!
We have a new well, water softener and iron filter! Our water is all set and we are happy to say goodbye to our culligan water stations. The library and ELA floors were completed after our final asbestos abatement! We have air-conditioning in our multipurpose room! This was extra-helpful this week with the excessive heat! Thanks to PTC we have a new kiln in the art room. Special thanks to Mr. Versh and his summer crew as these projects were a lot to manage! Thank you to our school board members for doing their best to be fiscal stewards to Erin Residents while working to provide a safe building for students. Erin school continues to do our very best to provide a high quality educational experience within a very limited budget. Please reach out to me should you have any questions on our programming, budget or projects!
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Kalina
SCHOOL FEES
We have the ability for parents to pay for school registration fees, athletic/activity fees, lunch/milk, and daycare online.
Your school fees have been “billed to your account”. To pay, log into Skyward, click on the Fee Management tab, you will see the school fees listed, click on Make a Payment (if you have more than one child, you can do this with any of them), this will take you to another site where you will see your Food Service balance as well as the required fees due. Click Add to Cart, do this for each of the fees if you have more than one child. You will also see Optional Fees, this is where you would select Athletic/Activities Fees. Once you have everything added to your cart, you can Checkout. Please note, there is a service fee for using this service.
If you would like to write a check for your fees, please stop in the front office for a printed School Fees form.
School fees are due by Friday, Sept. 20th.
GUIDELINES FROM THE FRONT OFFICE
Please review the front office guidelines:
- If your child will not be in school on a certain day please let the front office and their teacher know as soon as possible.
- If your student will be coming to school late please let the front office and their teacher know. If your student would like hot lunch or a milk for that day please call the front office by 8:30am that day with their lunch choice.
- If your student needs to leave school early please let the front office and their teacher know.
- If your student has a change to their end of day normal routine please call the front office by 2:30pm so we can notify your student of the change.
If you have questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you!

AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP GUIDELINES
We kindly request your cooperation with our after-school pickup procedures to ensure safety and efficiency.
Remember, we have supervision for students who are pick up until 3:40pm, so you don't need to arrive at 3:15pm, staggering your pick up time will help with some of the back ups.
Please pull up as far as possible to prevent traffic from backing up onto the highway and allow the line to move smoothly. Often times our staff is in the lot directing you when to move forward, so please keep an eye out for their signals. Cones will be placed to indicate where the first car in line should stop.
If you plan to exit your car to pick up your child, please park and proceed to the designated pickup area. We often experience delays when children are loaded into cars in the middle of the line, causing backups.
We provide supervision until 3:40 PM in the designated pickup areas. If you can pick up your child before 3:40 PM, please inform their teacher so they can be car pick up rather than go to after-school care.
Our top priority is ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and families during pickup and drop-off. We kindly ask that you follow our guidelines to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
GET YOUR WILD T-SHIRTS HERE!
Each school year, our staff does theme t-shirts. New this year, we would like to offer the shirts to the students. If you would like to purchase a shirt, please indicate on the sign up sheet what size(s) you would like and send the payment ($13.00 per shirt), payable to Erin School. Shirts will not be distributed unless paid in full. This will be a one time order.
Orders are due Wednesday, September 4th.

THE ANXIOUS GENERATION
Save-the-Date!
Anxious Generation Round Table Discussion
September 18th at 6pm in the Library
We hope you can join us!
The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness is a 2024 best-selling book by Jonathan Haidt, which argues that the rise of smartphones and overprotective parenting have led to a "rewiring" of childhood and a rise in mental illness. We have 8 books available for interested families to check out! Please contact the front office if you are interested.
FITNESS FRIDAY - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Dear Parents,
Our Erin School Fitness Friday will take place on Friday, September 20th from 1:00-3:05pm. For those of you who have not experienced Fitness Friday, it is an afternoon filled with movement, mentoring, healthy snacks, and lots of fun fitness challenges. We have many local businesses that partner with our school for this event. I have attached last year’s challenge sheet to help explain the event.
We need a lot of parent (and grandparents) helpers to make this event a success. Your job would be to simply help supervise a station and encourage the students as they work on the fitness challenges. Please sign up using this link , if you can assist with this exciting school event. All volunteers should meet in the gym at 12:30pm on Sept. 20th. Come join the fun and help create another successful Fitness Friday.
If you know of any businesses that would like to be part of our Fitness Friday event by running a station or donating healthy snacks, please have them contact Mr. Mueller at Mueller@erinschool.org
