Woodland Welcomes New Administrators to the #LifeintheW Team!
HAPPY NEW YEAR: July 1 is the official start of the 2024-2025 school year! While school doesn't start until August, the fiscal year runs July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025. As we embark on the new year together, we want to introduce you to new leaders joining our team in support of our amazing learning community. Please join us in showing these new Wildcats a warm Woodland welcome.
Dr. Trisha Shrode, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning
The Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Trisha Shrode as the new Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. Dr. Shrode replaces Dr. Thomas who retired in June. Dr. Shrode most recently served as the Director of Research and Evaluation at the Midwest PBIS Network. She also spent seven years as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Elgin Area School District U-46, and held principal positions in U-46 and Chicago Public Schools.
Mrs. Vasiliki Frake, Director of Educational Services
Vasiliki Frake replaces Dr. Yesenia Jiménez-Captain as the new Director of Educational Services. Mrs. Frake comes to Woodland D50 from Antioch District 34 where she has served as the Director of Student Services since 2020.
Mrs. Sonia Villarreal-Orson, Assistant Principal/Special Education Supervisor
Following the retirement of Victoria Marble at Woodland Middle School, Mrs. Sonia Villarreal-Orson was hired to fill the spot as Assistant Principal/Special Education Supervisor. Mrs. Villarreal-Orson previously served as a Behavior Coach in Gurnee School District 56 and she is the parent of current Woodland students.
Ms. Caitlin Shanahan, Elementary Assistant Principal/Special Education Supervisor
The Board of Education approved the selection of Caitlin Shanahan to join the Elementary Administrative team to help support the staff and students. Ms. Shanahan is moving into this role from her previous position as a Psychologist at Woodland Middle School for the past five years.
I work for Woodland District 50 in a communications and public outreach role.
