A Message from your Principals
Greetings Parents and Families,
The school is literally buzzing with excitement in anticipation of the holiday performances and all the special events and celebrations happening everywhere this time of year! I can't wait to see you all here for the concerts. They always put a smile on my face and tears in my eyes - a great holiday tradition here at CBCS.
I am excited to announce a new pilot program here at CBES that has emerged from a partnership between the PTA and the CB Rotary Club! In an effort to strengthen the connections between the school, our families and our community, PTA and The Rotary Club are funding a new position: Family and Community Liaison. The first phase is a 6 month contracted position with the potential for expanding into a more long term or permanent role at the school. Please click here for more information, including how to apply. We are thrilled to get started on this project and appreciate the vision and support from PTA and The Rotary!
From all of us here, we wish you a wonderful holiday season, and may the New Year bring joy and good tidings to you and yours.

Ski for PE
Ski for PE is right around the corner! 2nd-5th graders will receive five lessons at CBMR as part of their physical education curriculum. The forms below are past due so please complete them asap. Families will go to mypaymentsplus.com to pay for Ski for PE. We want all students to participate regardless of the ability to pay this fee. If you would like to request a scholarship for this program, please click here and return the form to Sally Hensley at shensley@gunnisonschools.net or drop it by the office.

The Latest from the PTA
Dear Families,
This year, the PTA is providing holiday gift cards to All Staff of Crested Butte Community School on behalf of YOU-- the students and families. The PTA is contributing $2500 from our annual budget. Any additional contributions that families make will be added to the "Holiday Fund" and divided evenly among all 100 staff of CBCS in the form of local gift cards.
The more that is given, the more will be given out. If you would like to participate in this group gift, please donate on the PTA Website here no later than Wednesday Dec. 14th by 12pm.
A Special Note to Elementary School Families:
- You may have already heard directly from your Room Parent about collecting a gift for your teacher, and that's great. Your teacher will still receive the gift card from the PTA, as well. Please do not feel obligated to donate again if you have already done so with your Room Parent.
- For those of you who wish to give to the Support Staff, beyond your classroom teacher, you can do that directly through your Room Parent (who will pass it on to the PTA Holiday Fund) or you can do that through the PTA Holiday Fund donation link here. Support Staff includes Art, Music, P.E., Counselors, Janitors, Cafeteria, Front Office, and the many other wonderful staff who make each student's success possible.
- If your family has chosen to give directly to your teacher, that's great too. Please do not feel pressure to participate in this group gift. This is simply an option that is helpful for some families.
A Note to Our Sponsors & Donors:
- If you have already sponsored or donated to the PTA this year, please know that a portion of your donation is going to this staff holiday giving initiative. If you would like to give directly to the Holiday Fund on top of that, of course, that is welcome and genuinely appreciated but not expected.
