3rd Grade Math
Happy New Year! Before break, third graders completed their 11s and 12s packets. They also worked on a review packet over the holiday break. This week, students will continue working on multiplication skills.
4th Grade Math
Happy New Year! Before break, fourth graders used the area model to multiply 1 digit by 3 digit numbers. Over break students reviewed their multiplication facts by completing a 1-7s review packet. This week, students will review chapter 5's previous lessons before continuing on to multiplying 3- by 4- digit numbers.
3rd Grade ELA
Before break, students were learning about how children in other countries access books, and they began writing paragraphs about what they have learned. This week students will continue that work before revising and editing to create polished final drafts.
4th Grade ELA
Before break students wrote the first draft of their multi-paragraph essay on Colonial Times. Over break, students have been editing, and revising these essays in order to turn in their completed final essays when we return from break tomorrow. This week, students will continue learning about colonial times by practicing their inference skills and learning about primary sources.
STEM
This week we will begin another Project Lead the Way STEM module! This module will focus on input/output: the human brain. As a psych major, I am very excited to begin this module and to teach your students all about the structure, function, and processing power of the human brain!
The first few days will focus on the lobes of the brain and their functions. By the end of the week, your students should be able to tell you the location and function of the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes, as well as the cerebellum and brain stem. Feel free to quiz them throughout the week!
