ALT ALERT!
Del Amigo & Venture Alternative Education School
Principals Message
Hello SRVUSD AltEd Community,
What a wonderful start to this school year. It was amazing to see so many returning students and welcome new students to both of our Alternative Education programs- Del Amigo and Venture!
Our first day of school for Del Amigo students was filled with workshops and activities including- community building, graduation status review, credit analysis, mindfulness and technology checks. For Venture Camp we focused on community building, time management, goal setting materials and technology checks. It was great celebrating and getting to know one another as a school community.
Our Advisory classes have started off strong this year with engaging activities surrounding goal setting, graduation planning and analyzing our digital habits. It is very important that students attend Advisory so they receive the most up to date information in a timely manner. Also, it is crucial for our students to have access to community building activities, social emotional learning, college and career and the many other supports available through their weekly Advisory teacher.
Finally I want to remind parents and students of our Student Support Referral which is available to students and families if you have any academic, social emotional or attendance concerns and may need more support! Our BASE (Behavior Accademic Social Emotional) team meets weekly to review these and offer support!
Have a great Labor Day weekend! Remember no school Monday, Sept. 2nd!
Lynsie Castellano, Principal

Upcoming Full Closures of
Bollinger Canyon Road
between Camino Ramon and Market Place for Construction:
September 7–15
San Ramon, CA (August 20, 2024) — Bollinger Canyon Road will be completely
closed between Camino Ramon and Market Place from Saturday, September
7 through Sunday, September 15. Detours will be in place to direct traffic
around the construction zone. City Hall and the Marketplace Shopping Center
will be open with access from westbound Bollinger Canyon Road.
This roadway closure is required to conduct a critical phase of construction on
the Iron Horse Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing, where the
Overcrossing structure within the roadway limits will be built. Once this work is
complete, the silhouette of the Overcrossing will be visible.
For more detail, please see the attached detour map.
Bollinger Canyon Road will again be completely closed between Camino
Ramon and Market Place from Tuesday, October 1 through Monday, October
7. Detours will be in place to direct traffic around the construction zone. City Hall
and the Marketplace Shopping Center will be open with access from westbound
Bollinger Canyon Road.
This roadway closure is required to conduct a critical phase of construction
where the precast concrete deck panels will be set in the Overcrossing
framework. Once this work is complete, the public will see the full Overcrossing
structure. However, the Overcrossing will not be fully completed and open until
Summer 2025.
During the two road closure periods, construction activities will be taking place
that require special safety measures, since workers will be using large cranes to
lift portions of the Overcrossing in place. It will not be safe for vehicles to drive
under the over-roadway work.
Pedestrians and bicycles can continue to use the existing sidewalk detour route
on the south side of Bollinger Canyon Road. Pedestrian scaffolding will be
constructed for protection.

Dear Alternative Education Community (Del Amigo & Venture) ,
As many of you know, our students’ social emotional well-being is at the forefront of our minds, especially as we begin a new school year. Districtwide, we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to support our students.
To assist with this, we will be administering a district-approved questionnaire to all of our student(s) four times throughout the school year. Student responses will be used to inform supports and broad interventions to assist with meeting their needs. The questionnaire measures the following positive attributes:
Joy of Learning
School Connectedness
Educational Purpose
Academic Efficacy
Overall Student Wellbeing
The windows during which your students will take the questionnaire are as follows:
Quarter One (GP 1 & 2) Now - October 11, 2024 Quarter Two (GP 3 & 4) October 14, 2024 - December 20, 2024 Quarter Three (GP 5 & 6) January 7, 2025 - March 21, 2025 Quarter Four (GP 7 & 8) March 24, 2025 - June 5, 2025
Your student’s Advisory teacher will be presenting information to them next week, then assigning the questionnaire to their classes to be completed through Illuminate.
If you have any questions or concerns, or wish to opt out your child from completing the questionnaire, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Best wishes,

SEPTEMBER RESOLUTIONS
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of September as National Literacy Month. The schools of SRVUSD stand firmly committed to promoting reading as the catalyst for our students’ future academic, professional, and personal success. We are committed to providing the highest quality evidence-based instructional materials, screening and diagnostic tools, interventions, and supports so that every student becomes a proficient and engaged reader, writer, speaker, and listener.
SRVUSD encourages engagement with parents and caregivers so they can support literacy at home and enhance opportunities for exploration, fun, and in support of academic achievement.
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of September as Citizenship Awareness Month. It is important that our students understand the basic principles of democracy and what it means to be an American citizen. Young people can play a critical role in our democracy by helping to choose the people who will lead us and by voicing their opinions on the issues that are important to them.
Students are encouraged to participate in the democratic process through voter education programs and involvement in civic engagement activities. District schools are encouraged to celebrate Constitution Day on September 17 and participate in California High School Voter Education Weeks during the last two weeks of September.
National Hispanic Heritage Month: Sept 15 - Oct 15
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes September 15 - October 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic and Latino Americans have made so many social, artistic, linguistic, and intellectual contributions to our society, the State of California, and our community. Their influence and rich history enrich our nation and our schools through their entrepreneurship, commitment to community service, deep value of justice and liberty and social and cultural life.. As stated in the Multicultural Education Policy of the California State Board of Education, each student needs an opportunity to understand the common humanity underlying all people.
