It’s American Education Week which is a time to recognize and celebrate the importance of education in our society. This week highlights the achievements in education and reminds parents and educators of the responsibility they share to ensure that every child receives an excellent education. Two of this week's most significant events are National Parental Involvement Day on Thursday and Substitute Educators Day on Friday.
Parent involvement in their child's education starts at home. That's where students learn behavior expectations and get additional academic support. Our campuses offer many exciting academics, enrichment classes, and extracurricular activities. We strongly support parents volunteering, joining a booster club, or the PTO to further connect with their child's teacher and campus culture. When parents and educators work together, the synergy provides helpful insights into a child's learning and needs.
On Friday, we'll also celebrate our substitutes. People who substitute on our campuses and district play a vital role in learning and school operations. Substitutes can be in the classroom or help in the front office. When we need support, substitute educators are there to help. Plus, they choose when they want to work. American Education Week highlights the effort needed to support our children through education. By working together we lay the foundation for a stronger, smarter, confident student. That's something to celebrate.
