Principal's Welcome
Kia ora koutou
Welcome back to our Bohally community as we head into Term 4, it is beginning to feel like summer as we have longer and warmer days and our classes are busy practising their athletic skills out on the field. This term is only 9 weeks and we've nearly finished week 1 so our Year 8's need to make the most of their final time here at Bohally. On the 24th of November our Y8's head off to MBC and MGC for their taster days and we (the Year 7's and staff) are going to welcome the incoming Y6's for an open day including a welcoming powhiri. It's a tricky time for us as we adjust to losing half our students every year but we hope that they have taken opportunities to maximise their potential while being here and are hopefully ready to move into secondary education.
This term we look forward to athletics day (to be held at Athletic Park this year), ki-o rahi tournament, Taiopenga, mountain biking tomorrow, Max Factor, Adventure Week, Choir performances, and prizegiving. An exciting time with lots of opportunities. Thank you to those parents who have offered to help with Adventure week. It is a huge undertaking by our staff with many hours of work going into organising each camp/activity. Please help us by ensuring your child is well prepared with gear lists, health forms returned and fees paid. I am looking forward to joining the Abel Tasman tramping group for a few days.
Please keep in touch with your child's class teacher if you have any queries/concerns, there is a lot on and it is important that your child comes prepared each day. A big shout out to the parents I see up Mt Vernon as we partake in the Everest Challenge, I have been enjoying the comradeship as we climb our 8,800 metres.
Take care everyone,
Nicky Cameron - Dunn

Community Notices
Update from Community Oral Health Service
Update for Community Oral Health Service
We hope all is well in your school community during so many challenges for everyone.
A number of other factors are continuing to have impact of the timeliness on Oral health Care for the tamariki/children of Nelson/ Marlborough. Our unprecedented shortage of Dental and Oral health Therapists is the most inhibiting factors for services. We are working secure more therapists however this is challenging in a period of a national shortage of trained oral health professionals.
A number of strategies remain in place to make the most of opportunities available to us to keep wait times for tamariki/children to a minimum.
Mobile Clinics
The Wairau mobile is still off road for repairs and a COVID19 upgrade since late 2021 and we hope this is resolved soon. The Nelson area mobile continues to operate but at reduced capacity.
We continue to prioritise the most outlying areas for the mobile service where access to town clinics is the most difficult. All whanau/families will be contacted by the nearest hub and alternative clinic appointments will be offered. We’ll endeavour to work with whanau/families from outlying areas to find a time that coincides with trips to town centres.
Our usual annual calendar continues to change due to constraints so we will endeavour to remain in contact with schools as the plan evolves. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any concerns in regard to the mobile service.
Early Discharge Year 7 & 8 children
A large number of private dentists continue to take over the care of Year 7 & 8 children instead of the usual transfer to private dentists at Year 9.
Our clinics will be in touch with families as appointments come due (or are overdue) to make arrangements for those who wish to take up this option. Please work with your Community Oral Health Hub in the first instance to get this arrangement underway.
Saturday Clinics
Some of our team have kindly offered their time on Saturdays as an option for appointments. This is a very limited service and will be offered where it is available.
Urgent Care
As is our normal practice if your child has urgent needs, please be in touch with your nearest clinic to make arrangement for an urgent appointment or contact Nelson or Wairau hospitals for dental afterhours information.

Your child will enjoy learning a new skill AND for those keen, the course leads to belt grading, competitions and much more.

Communication
At Bohally we strive to keep our community up to date with what is happening at school. We have three main ways we communicate - our school app, website, and Facebook page. We recommend downloading our school app. The app will allow you to set up alerts for your child's class and activities. This causes a push notification on your phone if any notices are uploaded. If you have any questions about how to access any of these three systems please talk to your child's teacher. Below are the links for you to follow.
