Richmond Drive Tiger Time
March 3, 2024
A Message from Mrs. Hyatt
Hello Families,
Join us for an amazing Fun Family Title 1 Night Thursday, March 7 from 5:00 - 7:00.
March Mathness Night
Fun and Games, 2nd grade Arts Show and the Book Fair!
Pizza will also be provided!
All RDES students will receive a goodie bag!
Which class will have the most students attending?
Attendance Matters - Did you know we track weekly classroom attendance as well as daily attendance for classes? Classes with perfect attendance receive a letter towards spelling out "Perfect Attendance" each day the entire class is present. Once collecting all the letters, the class receives a special prize. Ask your child how many times their class has spelled out "Perfect Attendance." ALSO, each week we recognize the class at each grade level with the best attendance.
Help us have less tardies! Be on time. Teaching starts at 7:45am when the tardy bell rings, so we need everyone present and on time. Thank you for your support.
The staff at Richmond Drive Elementary appreciate all of your help and support. We love volunteers to come into classes and help around the school. Please sign up to volunteer. Volunteer application link: https://www.rock-hill.k12.sc.us/Page/1188

Leader in Me - Growing Leaders at RDES
Every child at Richmond Drive Elementary is a Leader. Ask your child what they have learned about each of the habits and how they are showing leadership at school and home.
Be Proactive - September
Begin with the End in Mind - October
Put First Things First - November
Think Win-Win
Thinking Win-Win embraces an attitude that continually seeks mutual benefit in our interactions with others. It is choosing to believe that there is plenty for everybody and that other people’s success doesn’t come at a cost to us.
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood (Listen Before You Talk)
To practice Empathic Listening is listening with the sole intent to understand another person within their frame of reference. It is recognizing that we have greater influence with others if we truly understand them first.

Nurse Information
Fall/Winter weather has arrived.
With the change in temperatures respiratory illness are ramping up. Let’s keep down the spread of germs and consider the following questions when your child is sick:
1. Does your child’s illness keep him/her from comfortably
taking part in activities?
2. Does your sick child need more care than the staff can give
without affecting the health and safety of other children?
3. Could other children get sick from being near your child?
If the answer to any of these questions is “Yes,” please keep your
child home.
See the link below for SC DHEC’s lists of illnesses in which a child must be kept home from school:
http://www.scdhec.gov/health/child-teen-health/school-exclusion
If you have any questions about the School Exclusion List, please contact school nurse.
Let’s make this a great Fall/Winter and take control of the spread of these germs.
Thank you,
Nurse Smith
