Notes from the Counseling Canopy
The importance of submitting a senior's Social Security number:
Submitting an SSN is not required for graduation, but if we do not have it on file, your student will not be able to qualify for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship, send transcripts via gafutures.org, or anything involving the Georgia Student Finance Commission. If we do not have your SSN on file, please bring a copy of your student’s SSN card to the counseling office at your earliest convenience.
Creating and Maintaining a Safe Environment at SKG
At Seckinger, we have vestibules located at the front and back entry of our building. Our vestibules are double glass door entries with bullet-resistant glass film.
- When arriving at the school, ring the doorbell and state your reason for being here.
- You will then be buzzed through the first set of doors and into the vestibule.
- All visitors not employed by GCPS will need to then proceed with the Raptor - a program that screens visitors against the National Sex Offenders Registry.
- Visitors are required to insert their driver's license/state identification into the card reader located on a table inside the vestibule.
- Once our staff receives your clearance from Raptor, you will then be buzzed into the second set of doors where you will be able to receive either your visitor's badge or check-out your student (attendance office - back of the building).
Free Tutoring through Tutor.com
Did you know that GCPS partners with the Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL) to provide Tutor.com/gcpl as an online tutoring resource for students?

Live tutoring support is available daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and students can also drop off their papers to get 24-hour feedback from a professional.
