A word from our committee...
We are excited to be working alongside the NZLA team to host the Literacy Symposium in Hamilton at the the end of the term. We have selected Waikato University's state of the art student centre, The Pa, as the venue- what an amazing space! Dr Aaron Wilson & Dr Susan Sandretto are our keynote speakers, each sharing ways we can help children, of all ages, to think critically about how information is presented. Please help us promote this event in your staffroom and workplaces as an opportunity to connect and be inspired by fellow educators in the ever changing landscape of education and literacy.

2024 WAIKATO BOOK BATTLE
Update
The Book Battle teams (Yr 5-8) are busy reading and preparing for this years event on Friday 30th August. We are hosting this event as part of Hamilton Book Month and this year it is being held in the children's area (2nd floor) of Hamilton Central Library.
We are making reading a sport!
We'd like to take this opportunity to shout out to our supporters and sponsors for this years event.
Missed out on entering a team this year - keep an eye out early in 2025 (February) when schools are notified. Pre register for the 2025 event here
TEACHER EVENT: SCOTTY DELEMARE
The attendees at Scotty Delemare's event all left with ideas on how to bring out emotions when using poetry within the classroom. It was a treat to hear Scotty speak at Puketaha School on an aspect of his teaching he is so passionate about.
We really did hear and feel the heart beat - Poetry has huge potential to hook students and hold them there!
STUDENT EVENT: YOUNG AUTHORS CONFERENCE
