Students from Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) have earned top recognition in the 2025 Riverside County Mock Trial Competition. This year's competition, held at the Riverside Hall of Justice, featured teams from across Riverside County competing in simulated courtroom proceedings. Students from TVHS and GOHS advanced to the final eight teams in the contest, and students from CHS and TVHS were recognized with Blue Ribbons for their standout individual performances.
This annual competition, sponsored by the Riverside County Office of Education in partnership with the Constitutional Rights Foundation, Riverside County Bar Association, and the Superior Court, has been a staple of local education since 1983. The event offers students a chance to step into the roles of district attorneys, defense attorneys, bailiffs, witnesses, clerks, and investigators. Students perform opening and closing statements, conduct cross-examinations, and demonstrate their legal knowledge and teamwork, all while being evaluated by practicing attorneys and judges.
During the Mock Trial Awards Ceremony on February 8th, Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, Edwin Gomez, Ed.D, congratulated all the top teams, including those from TVUSD, for their hard work and dedication. "Mock trial has a rich history in Riverside County with ... current legal professionals, who credit their experience in mock trial with instilling a passion for the law at an early age," Gomez said.
Congratulations to the Blue Ribbon recipients for their outstanding accomplishments and to the TVHS and GOHS teams for advancing to the final eight teams in this year’s competition. These students continue to demonstrate the excellence and talent that Temecula is known for!
