Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
This month, our Capturing Kids’ Hearts character word is Teamwork! Teamwork is all about working together toward a common goal, supporting one another, and using each person’s unique strengths to succeed. We’ll be helping students understand the value of cooperation, communication, and respect in their interactions, both in the classroom and on the playground.
Through fun activities and classroom discussions, students will explore how working as a team can help solve problems, create stronger friendships, and make learning more enjoyable. We encourage you to talk with your child about what teamwork means to them and how they can be a great team member at school and at home!

Birthdays at School 🎈
We love celebrating our students, but to keep the classroom focused on learning, we ask that families keep birthday celebrations at home. Please note the following:
Birthday invitations should be shared outside of school.
Cupcakes (homemade or store-bought) and other birthday treats should be enjoyed outside of school.
Balloons and other deliveries for celebrations are not allowed at school..
In-class birthday parties will not be held, but we celebrate your child’s special day in other meaningful ways at school.
Yearbooks
This year's yearbook is being published by Jostens and will go on sale after the winter break. Please ignore any early purchase offers from Lifetouch since we are not utilizing their yearbook publishing services this year.

School Psychologist Appreciation Week
During School Psychologist Appreciation Week (November 11-15), we want to recognize the incredible work of our school psychologist, Jewel Murphy! School psychologists play a vital role in supporting the well-being of our students by promoting a safe and supportive learning environment. Ms. Murphy works tirelessly to ensure that our students' social, emotional, and academic needs are met through Special Services. Please join us in thanking Ms. Murphy for their dedication, compassion, and the positive difference they make every day. We are so lucky to have them as part of our team!

Calling All Writers!
Type 1 Diabetes Awareness Month 🌎
T1D is an autoimmune disease that is diagnosed in both children and adults and has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Managing T1D requires constant attention and action—including overnight. Even with a strict regimen, people with T1D can still experience dangerously high or low blood sugar that can lead to complications and, in extreme cases, be life-threatening.
We have two Type 1 diabetic students at Washington Elementary. If you would like to show your support of them, join us at JB Hunt campus on November 3 for the Breakthrough T1D Walk. Click below for more information!
On Thursday, November 14th, we are wearing BLUE in honor of World Diabetes Week. Please join us!
Leukemia Awareness
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a type of blood and bone marrow cancer that occurs when the bone marrow produces too many abnormal white blood cells called lymphocytes. ALL is a fast-growing, aggressive disease that usually worsens quickly if left untreated. It's the most common type of cancer in children, but can also affect adults.
One of our Washington Wildcats, 4th grader Gavin Volarvich, has recently been diagnosed with ALL. If you would like to show your support of Gavin and others who are fighting the good fight, please click the link below to help light up the night on Nov. 1.
