It takes a village to raise a child
Dear families,
Stowe Elementary Key Zone Student, “What did the first squirrel say when the second squirrel put twigs in the frying pan?”
Me: “Uh, I don’t know.
Student: “What are you doing?!? This is a non-stick pan!”
Ba-dum-tss!
Sometimes a bunch of super silly squirrel jokes from a group of elementary students is just what it takes to fill your heart and recharge you after a very busy week. After last week’s snow days, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to spend time in so many of our schools this week for a wide variety of visits.
I am so appreciative of our many partnerships between Duluth Public Schools and our community partners! YMCA’s KEY Zone program is just one of the numerous organizations that support our mission of supporting every student every day. If I tried to share a complete list, I am sure that I would miss one of the dozens who are committed to our youth!
The old proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child" couldn’t be more true than it is in Duluth, and I am so grateful for the services that allow us to better meet the desired daily experiences of our students, staff and families.
These community groups have also been assisting us in getting the message out about the upcoming May 14th referendum, which I am sure by now, you might be tired of hearing about!
With that being said, I will leave you with one more squirrel joke on this sunny spring day!
What did the first squirrel say to the second squirrel after checking out the futureforward709.org website?
It’s nuts how much information they have about the referendum!!!
Heh-heh… sorry, I couldn’t resist!
Have a great weekend!
With appreciation,
John Magas
Superintendent

Tips for Literacy
During the district's World Best Workforce advisory committee meeting, many people gave feedback asking for the district to provide tips to support their children's literacy at home. This will be a weekly series that will run through the spring. We hope parents find it useful. Below you will find our next video in the series recorded by Lester Park Principal Anna Cawcutt.
