Principal’s Corner: The Power of Respect
Dear Whitson Families,
I want to express my gratitude to all of you for your outstanding participation in our recent parent-teacher conferences. Even with the snow day, and having to reschedule many conferences, we still had over 95% attendance. Your involvement plays a crucial role in nurturing the respectful, supportive atmosphere that makes Whitson thrive.
This month, we’re focusing on one of the most important pillars of our school culture: “Be Respectful.” Respect isn’t just a rule; it’s a core value that helps shape who we are as a community. When we practice respect, we foster an environment where all students feel safe, welcomed, and empowered to learn.
At school, being respectful means:
✅ Using kind words and listening to others – A simple "please" or "thank you" can brighten someone’s day and make a lasting impact.
✅ Taking care of our shared spaces – By keeping our classrooms and hallways clean, we show pride in our school and in one another.
✅ Following directions and being patient – Respecting our teachers and peers helps create a positive and productive learning environment.
✅ Being considerate of others' feelings – Treating everyone with kindness and empathy strengthens our bonds and our community.
I also want to thank you, our families, for being such a vital part of what makes Whitson so exceptional. Together, we can continue to instill these values in our children, both at home and in the classroom. When we model respect, we help our students grow into compassionate, kind-hearted individuals. We work hard everyday to create an environment where every child feels valued, loved, and encouraged to grow.
