Tanglen Update
November 11, 2022
Jim's Jottings
Hello, Everyone!
Today is Veterans Day, when the United States of America honors people who have served our country through the armed forces. If you are a veteran, thank you for your service! If you have a relative or friend who is a veteran, take a moment to thank them for their service as well.
We are seeing a dramatic increase in respiratory and influenza-like illnesses at our school. Below are two attachments which will give you more information about influenza and the symptoms of it. If your child is showing symptoms of an illness, please keep her/him home from school so that we can stop the spread to others. Thank you and let's work together to stay healthy! Jim

Tanglen Staff Friendsgiving Meal! Monday, November 21st
We are SO GRATEFUL for all our Tanglen staff members! Your Tanglen PTO is trying something new and hoping to provide the staff with an opportunity to spend quality time with one another. We know that time is rare during the school day, so PTO is providing an all-staff Thanksgiving to take place on Monday 11/21 after school. Turkeys are being donated and we, the PTO, will be providing all the "fixings". Please review the available slots here and sign up to bring something. Thank you for your support and donations!
Family Bingo Night! Friday, November 18
Please join us for Tanglen’s Bingo night on November 18th. It’s been a while since we were able to host this fun family event and we hope to see you all there! Dr. Hebeisen and the teachers host the evening, with plenty of great prizes, including squishmellows, sleds, games, gift cards, and more!
We are looking for volunteers to help run the event, and it will be in shifts so you can still participate in the fun with your family! Sign up to volunteer here! We would appreciate it if you preorder your meal tickets and bingo sheets here IN ADVANCE so we know how much food to have on hand!
Thank You Hopkins Education Foundation!

COVID Guidance for 2022-23
Hopkins Public Schools follows the guidance of the Minnesota Department of Health/CDC in its response to COVID-19. In the 2022-23 school year, Hopkins will continue to require five-day minimum isolation for those who test positive for COVID. Mask wearing is recommended but not required in our buildings or on the bus. Please check our COVID Hub on our website for the latest information on COVID-19 and our current response.
eLearning & Equitable Internet Access
With Hopkins adopting eLearning due to inclement weather this winter, we want to make sure families have stable, available internet access at home. If your student would need assistance in having an internet connection at home to participate in eLearning Days, please contact our school counselor, Abby Erdmann at 952-988-4900 and she will work with you to make sure an internet hotspot is available on eLearning Days.
