MCA Testing
"Statewide assessments are tests that are given to Minnesota students each spring. They can be thought of as a snapshot of what students have learned (MDE)." Students at Washington will take the MCAs beginning in March.
10th Grade MCA Reading

- April 22nd-April 25th in students’ Math classes
- Makeup Dates – April 29th-May 3rd

Cultural Stoles
Ms. Otto and Mr. Yang WILL HAVE TO pre-approve cultural adornments by Thursday, 5/23.
Adornment must meet the following general physical dimensions and characteristics:
- Can be worn around the neck or attached to one’s graduation gown.
- TOTAL LENGTH: 64 inches or less
- WIDTH: 7 inches or less
- NO REFLECTIVE MATERIALS, such as sequins or glitter.
- No offensive messaging as defined in the dress code section of the Rights and Responsibilities Handbook including: items that pose a health or safety hazard, obscene, sexually explicit, discriminatory, racist, sexist, or otherwise derogatory, displays or references to alcohol, tobacco, or other products that are illegal for use by minors.
- No references to gang affiliations, firearms, or violence.
- No oversized words; each character cannot be larger than 1.5 inches tall or wide.
- Items that threaten the dignity of the ceremony will not be approved.
- Personal identity adornments of the graduation cap will not be allowed, including tassels or decorating the mortarboard.
College/Career Center Newsletter
College Possible Returning to Washington
College Possible is coming back in-person to Washington and is accepting applications from 10th and 11th grade students! Starting junior year through college graduation, students are paired with a College Possible Coach who will guide and support them through all aspects of college applications, financial aid, enrolling in college, and successfully navigating college. 11th grade applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Look for them at lunch or an upcoming info session and application workshop. Learn more and apply here!
Summer Opportunities for High School Students
Here are some summer career/job opportunities for students in grades 9-12. Many of these opportunities offer pay and all are on a first come, first serves basis, so don’t wait to apply.

AREA MANAGER INSPECTION
WTMS NJROTC Eagle Company prepared for and passed our Area Manager Inspection. Tenesha Clement, Terena Clement, Edna Guevara, Sin Lia, Darion McEntee and Aaron Vue were acknowledged by the Area Manager for receiving perfect scores on their personnel inspection and awarded Exemplary Personal Appearance Ribbon.
ANNUAL WASHINGTON WAR EAGLE CHALLENGE
Eagle Company held its first annual Washington War Eagle Challenge which consisted of Color Guard, drones, academic and physical challenges. The Eagle Company took 3rd place overall, which was our first trophy since 2019!
NAVY BALL
A good time was had by all in attendance as guests enjoyed dinner, danced, and played games.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Eagle Company Cadets provided nearly 100 hours of community service in support of events at Washington Technology Magnet School, local elementary schools, and local community organizations.
AWARDS & PROMOTIONS
Eagle Company promoted well over 30 cadets and presented over 70 awards this quarter.
MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE WRESTLING TOURNAMENT
Our Color Guard Teams, Captained by C/PO3 Tenesha Clement and C/PO3 Aaron Vue, presented Colors at two sessions of the Minnesota State High School League Wrestling Tournament at the Excel Energy Center. They were also chosen to present colors at the Saint Paul Saints 2024 home opener.
