A Historic Opportunity is Coming!
We are excited and hoping that Mother Nature will cooperate for viewing the eclipse next Monday! If you haven't gotten your permission slip in yet, please put it in your child's bag and have them bring it tomorrow! Our terrific staff has been putting together resources for students to learn more about this historic moment.
Click below to see a social story put together by Ms. Erbach from our student services team that walks you through how to talk about the eclipse with a younger child.
Additionally, our Science Curriculum Specialist Mr. Yablonsky and our librarians (Mrs. Trudeau, Mrs. Chalfin, Ms. Thurman, Mrs. Jahng, Mrs. Lovsin, and Ms. Schaper) assembled a great collection of links and resources for students (and family members) of all ages to learn more...
IAR Testing Underway
As you read in a note from the Teaching & Learning Department earlier this week, IAR testing is underway in grades 3-8. Below are a reminder of some helpful tips to coach your child to success!
- Encourage a regular sleep schedule. Being well rested helps ensure students remain alert.
- Provide a healthy breakfast to help fuel your child’s brain, providing them with the energy to focus.
- Discuss test-taking strategies, such as reading instructions carefully, managing their time, and reviewing their work. It is not necessary to study content.
- Please ensure that your child’s chromebook is fully charged each day.
- Most importantly, encourage your child to do their best, but also remind them that it’s okay to make mistakes. Children who approach the assessment with confidence often perform better. Celebrate their effort, perseverance, and progress, regardless of outcome.
