
OPS Tech Leaders (OTL) Program

What is the OTL Program?
OPS Tech Leaders (OTL) is a cohort of educators across the Omaha Public Schools district passionate about technology integration to drive student success. We work to connect School Improvement Plans to a variety of instructional tools as well as strategies to support digital citizenship/well-being, digital classroom management, and digital literacy.
OTL Member Goals
1. Increase the capacity of members' ability for the intentional integration of technology to support blended learning models.
2. Facilitate a technology committee in collaboration with school leadership to support:
- School Improvement Plan
- Common Sense Education Plan
- Technology Management Plan
3. Build member leadership capacities to support colleagues through:
- Distribute communication of updates, tips, and troubleshooting ideas
- Develop a Common Sense School Recognition Plan
- Provide professional development on technology integration in a variety of modes (1:1, small group, whole group, etc.) to support their School Improvement Plan
Program Opportunities
- Collaboration amongst members with each other, district technology trainers, and product developers
- Communication via Microsoft Teams with all members for sharing of new updates and tips
- Embed professional learning specific to a classroom problem of practice with support from the OPS training team through our OTL Technology Integration Pathway
- Build skills as a leader in instructional technology
- Option to deepen learning and earn an endorsement through our Instructional Technology Leadership (ITL) Program
Benefit of Program to District and Schools along with Support of the District's Strategic Plan of Action 2020-25
- Engagement and success skills increased with technology integration across curricular areas to align academics, staff, and demonstrate ethic of care with student engagement and classroom management in order to prepare students for postsecondary expectations and development of staff's skills to develop and retain highly qualified and effective staff members
- Provide a first line of support for peer educators in schools focused on results in order to protect instructional time
- Members have created technology committees to collaborate with school leaders to provide school communities with needed support and promote equity
- Presented for Curriculum Day breakout sessions and local/national conferences to support engagement and empowerment of staff to lead through strengths while fostering joy and positive, connected environments for learning
- Provided support for district ELA curriculum adoption field test aiding academic aims to prioritize literacy
