Hello DeMello Families!

Here we are at the end of another busy week at DeMello. The highlight of this week for the staff and I was last night's Open House. We had an incredible turnout and it was wonderful welcoming our families and students to meet staff, explore the building and make a stop at the Scholastic Book Fair! Thank you to our teachers for all they did to make the night a joyful one. And a BIG THANK YOU to our DeMello PTO for coordinating and staffing the book fair! We look forward to more family events in the future. Stay tuned for information about a fun-filled spooky night we are planning in October...

Again, I spent quite a bit of time with our kindergarten students down in Little Land. I can already see our youngest learners mastering their daily routines. They are doing a fine job learning about school and we couldn't be prouder of them!

The learning is moving full speed ahead across the building. We hope you are asking your student what they are working on in class--you are bound to hear some impressive news!

Again, we so grateful for the privilege of working with your kind and vibrant students. We look forward to seeing everyone next week!

Open House Book Fair FUN!

Student Bicycle Protocols

We have had in influx of students wanting to ride their bikes home from school! While this is great news, please keep the following protocols in mind:

all bikers must have a signed permission slip allowing us to let them ride home without an adult accompanying them (see attached)
all students must have a helmet
all bikers MUST lock their bikes up on the racks at the front of the building
bikers can not leave the campus until all of the buses have departed from the bus loop. This usually occurs around 3:40 daily.

If you have any questions about your child biking from school, please contact the DeMello Office.

Parent Pick-Up Clarification-Dartmouth Street

It has been brought to our attention that there is some confusion as to where parents in the pick-up line may line up on Dartmouth Street at dismissal time. Please note that no one should be occupying the area marked by the "No Parking Signs" in front of the building. This means that you should not drive into that section at all, even if it is momentary while you wait for pick-up to begin. We thank you for our cooperation!

Looking for VOLUNTEERS

DeMello School needs your help! We are looking for volunteers to assist us at recess anytime between 11:00 and 12:35. Volunteers would be responsible to helping to run games (soccer, football, kickball). Any time that you can give would be greatly appreciated.
