Columbia Central Weekly Bulletin
Week of April 8th
What's Happening This Week: 🏃🎨
Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Monday April 8, 2024 we will be experiencing an eclipse in our part of the country in the mid afternoon. Some of our science classes at Columbia Central will be taking part in viewing the eclipse with the appropriate safety glasses and learning about the event.
Part of the timing of the eclipse will coincide with our dismissal from school. Therefore, we will be providing each student at Columbia special sunglasses when they leave school to protect their eyes should they view the eclipse. Students may be tempted to view the eclipse on the bus, or walking home. We want to make sure they have the appropriate protection for their eyes. If you have any questions, please let me know.
We will be continuing with the state assessment (IAR) this week for all 5th through 8th grade students. This is an extremely important test. Our staff has worked extremely hard to support our students to perform at their best. Our students have worked so hard all year long for this assessment as well. Please make sure your child gets a good night of sleep and a nice breakfast each day this week.
Please take a look at other events happening this week.
Take care and and enjoy the week!

SEL Second Step Program
Dear Parents,
In this week’s Second Step lesson, your child will consider when, where, and with whom it would be best to work on an interpersonal problem. They will learn to view situations from multiple perspectives so they can better avoid and resolve conflicts. Your child will learn to listen to and consider someone else’s perspective during a conflict.
Parents, you could discuss with your child a time in your life when your view of a conflict changed because you were able to see it from another person’s perspective. Ask your child if they have changed their view about a conflict lately.
