What will you give up for plastic free July?
Can you commit to building one new habit this month to reduce your use of single use plastics? Here's five easy ways to start. Pick one! Even a little bit of change can go a long way.
1. Invest in reusable straws. Keep one in the car, one in your work bag, + the rest in a prominent space in the kitchen so that you remember to use them.
2. Use reusable bags when shopping. I keep two in my car + I'm usually good about grabbing one before I go in a store. If I forget it, then I just load my items back into the cart + into my trunk they go, no bags!
3. Bring your own coffee or coffee mug. Use a refillable mug at the coffee shop (if they allow it) or bring your own from home to save those single use coffee cups.
4. Invest in reusable snack storage bags. With daily school + work lunches it's easy to blow through single use plastic ziplocs. Instead, purchase some reusable, washable options. My kids are pretty good about making sure they get back home in their lunch bags!
5. Skip the plastic produce bags. Does that celery really need to go in a bag? You'll just wash it when you get home anyways.
Which will you commit to this month??
What I'm reading (listening to)
Just finished:
This is a great listen if you are interested in learning more about dopamine (the happy chemical) + how it affects our body + our behaviors. Through stories from her clinical work + research, you'll learn how easily our pain/pleasure balance can get tipped too far to one side + how addiction plays into this.
Just started:
One of my teammates recommended this book as a way to learn how to harness your energy levels throughout the day to increase productivity. We all have a green zone during the day when our energy is high. This is when we can do our best at what we are best at.
