K-4 Schoolwide Enrichment at East End Trimester 2 K-4 Schoolwide Enrichment at East End Trimester 2

We are pleased to bring back the schoolwide enrichment program to K-4 students at East End School. Gifted & Talented educators Ms. Nieves and Mrs. Landadio work with students weekly during the second trimester focusing on thematic units that include phonics (K), fairy tales (1), game design (2), creating prototypes (3), and engineering paper circuits and robotics (4). Enrichment provides students in grades K-4 with engaging activities focused on critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The program follows the design-thinking process, fostering creativity, innovation, and collaborative learning.

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) process is a hands-on learning approach that encourages our K-4 students to explore and problem-solve. In STEM activities, students will ask questions, experiment, and build while developing critical thinking and creativity. Through fun projects and challenges, they'll learn how to apply STEM subjects to real-life situations, preparing them for future success in a rapidly changing world. Encourage your child to embrace STEM, spark their curiosity, and set them on a path to discovery and innovation.

Students will have the opportunity to showcase their work later in the year at the STEM Night Expo. This two-hour, open-house event in the East End School Community Room is free for students and families. You and your children will be engaged and entertained by a variety of critical-thinking, problem-solving, and STEM design challenges. More information including dates and times will be announced soon!

Attention Pre-K Families: Important Flu Shot Update

As we approach the colder weather, we’d like to remind all Pre-K families that flu shot records are due by December 23rd.

Please be sure to submit your child’s flu shot record to us before this date. After December 23rd, your child will not be able to attend school until we receive proof of the vaccination and Nurse Joy has cleared them to return. We encourage you to hand in the proof of vaccination early to avoid any unnecessary absences.

Guidelines for Sick Days

As the colder weather sets in and illnesses increase, we ask that you carefully consider whether your child is well enough to attend school. Please refer to the chart below to help guide your decision when your child isn’t feeling their best:

  • If your child has a fever, they should stay home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without medication.
  • Vomiting or diarrhea: Your child should remain home for at least 24 hours after the last episode.

Your child's health and well-being are our top priority, and we want to ensure everyone stays safe and healthy during the cold and flu season.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation!
