All the art projects from this year's art classes!
A Digital Art Gallery to Showcase the Artwork of our Amazing Students
Over the course of the year students explored a variety of medias and created many amazing projects!
- At the beginning of the year during the 2D/Drawing Unit grades 1-6 created comic strips by coming up with characters, writing a story plot, and illustrating each box to make their very own comic! PreK/K created characters from simple shapes that they traced and cut themselves, decorated the clothing and accessories, and then made up stories about each of their characters.
- Next, during our Acrylic Paint Unit students 1-6 learned how to paint and mix a gradient, and used a painters tape technique along with paint markers to create buildings for their cityscapes. Pre/K learned about warm and cool colors and created symmetry paintings that were then turned into butterflies in a blue sky. All students also experimented with stamps made from paper towel tubes that they could shape however they wished, along with having extra specials time to create a painting of their choosing on thick paper pieces.
- The paint unit was followed by a 3D/Paper Sculpture Unit, where students learned how something 2D like paper can be cut and glued and transformed into a 3D form. Grades 1-4 created a radial design project that demonstrated radial symmetry and that once colored and cut they could choose to have it "pop-in" or "pop out" and create a cool illusion with their design once multiplied. Grades 5/6 created puzzle cubes, where they created 6 individual drawings that were then cut and assembled onto the sides of 4 cubes so that the cubes can be rearranged to create 6 difference puzzle sides. PreK/K colored and decorated large letters of their names, which were cut out and then twisted and turned and glued onto paper backing to mark the letters of their names transform from shapes into 3D forms.
- Our most recent unit was a Color and Collage Unit, where PreK and K learned about color and the rainbow and collaged Roy G Biv caterpillars. Students 1-6 learned about color theory and wrote poems about a specific color and then used mixed media supplies and materials to create a collaged frame/border for their poems.
Here is a selection of student work that they picked to be in this Digital Gallery. Every student selected at least two pieces for the show, with many choosing additional ones to include because there were so proud and excited to showcase their work!

A Note from Ms. Saldo
It was a pleasure teaching your students art this year! I am looking forward to creating many more awesome art projects with everyone next year!
I hope you enjoyed this digital art gallery! It is my hope to figure out new ways to display student art, especially for friends and family to see, so possibly keep a lookout for more digital galleries next year!
