Monday Memo #5
September 23, 2024
A weekly message
Dear Colleagues,
Great news from Zack Scott: "On Monday, students and staff members will be able to use Chromebooks throughout our schools with other devices being reconnected in the coming weeks." Hopefully we are on the road to resuming normal operations, but before we do, I want to express my appreciation for your dedication and professionalism. You may have noticed that the admin team began walkthroughs last week. The overwhelming feedback I received was that our faculty adjusted their practice to meet the moment, and teaching and learning continued. The pedagogical tools you selected provided opportunities for deep student engagement, discussion, and learning. Thank you for your creativity, agility, and commitment to meeting the moment. It is a privilege to work with you.
Respectfully,
Gail

Additional Duties, Breakfast and Detention
I know that we have a standing list of folks who perform breakfast duty, and a list of folks who volunteered for detention, but I've been asked to post for the duties. I'll send a separate email. With the Internet returning, the admin team will regroup and start assigning detentions based on referrals.
iReady diagnostic for 9th grade ELA and math
about iReady
Right before the Internet went down, English and math teachers responded to a few questions about their preparedness to facilitate the iReady diagnostic. Understandably since we have never used this platform at the high school level, almost all respondents said they felt unprepared to administer the assessment. Now that the Internet is back, please review the support Ms. Jimenez offered in the email she sent just before we lost connectivity. Once you have a chance to review, please reach out to Coach Jimenez for ELA support and Coach Benavides for math support.
from Coach Jimenez...
Good afternoon, All;
I have invited you to join my Google Classroom/Coach Jimenez, to keep updates.
There you will find the links to iReady demonstration - which would be useful to show your ninth graders - and a practice/simulator to explain how to take the test.
I have also attached the links below along with a picture of login information.

If you need any help with STAR Logins or iReady settings, let me know via email message.
Thanks
Nikki 🙂
