I hope everyone will join us for food, fun, raffle baskets, and shopping from some awesome vendors! Thank you to the PTO for all of their hard work putting this event together for us.

Positivity Project
Each week at Deerfield we focus on traits from the "Positivity Project" and this week's trait has been KINDNESS. P2 defines KINDNESS as; you are generous to others and you are never too busy to help out. You enjoy doing good deeds for other people. Individuals with this strength might be described as: caring, thoughtful, considerate, loving, compassionate, generous.
We Are Hiring!
We are in need to extra help during our lunch time at Deerfield! Our lunch time aids help the students both in the lunch room and supervise at recess!

Education Benefits Application Reminder
This is a reminder for all families to complete the CEP Education Benefits Application, if you have not already done so for this school year. Although school meals are free for all students, it is critical that all households complete the CEP Education Benefits Application. This information determines the amount of money our schools receive from a variety of State and Federal supplemental programs that support our students, staff, and families.
Families can submit their completed application online through the Meal Magic Family Portal. Any questions can be forwarded to Megan Haase at megan.haase@avondaleschools.org.
Snow Reminders and Rules
With Michigan weather you can never be too sure when snow might hit! We want to remind all families, and share with new families, what our expectations are for winter weather. If there is snow on the ground during recess time, all students must be in snow gear, meaning hats, gloves, snow pants, winter coat, and snow boots. If students are not in snow gear, they will not be permitted to play on areas where there may be accumulated snow, meaning they will have to stay on the blacktop for the duration of their time outside.
If you are having trouble obtaining snow gear or any pieces of the snow gear for your student, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via email or by calling the main office. We will be happy to assist where we can in providing resources or needed items for your student.
Playing in the snow is an incredibly exciting experience for our students and one that we do not want anyone to miss out on. That being said, we have to practice playing in the snow in a safe and kind way. This means that there will be no tolerance for students throwing snow. If your student is caught throwing snow, they will be given a 'Snowball Letter', and they will be required to bring it home and be signed by a guardian. If the snowball letter is not returned by their next recess, they will not be permitted to go outside until it is brought back to the main office.
PTO Holiday Shop
It’s time to let the kids shop!!! Our holiday shop will be open next week (12/9-12/13). The shop allows your student to bring money to school to pick out presents for family and friends. There is a large selection of gifts with prices ranging from $0.25-$15 per item. It is so much fun to let them choose what they want to buy for everyone on their list. The gifts will be wrapped at the shop, and sent home ready for gifting. Your student's teacher sent home their budgeting envelope this past week. Please use this envelope to create the list of people to shop for, and budget how much to spend per person, or the total amount to be spent. Be sure to send it back with your student for their shopping day next week (see tentative schedule below). Happy shopping!
Tentative shopping schedule
Monday: Scholz, Silver, and Norton
Tuesday: Akers, Marszalek, Ruit, Wright, Baetens, Burt, Cartier
Wednesday: Shop Closed
Thursday: Sobkowicz, Epstein/North, Naperkoski, Vesper, Adamczyk, Anderson, Kieltyka, and Quinn
Friday: Open Shop from 9-12
Holiday Shop Volunteers Needed
In order for the shop to run smoothly, we are looking for volunteers to help assist shoppers, check out, and gift wrap. Please come lend a hand, and see the joy in the student’s faces as they get to pick out gifts for their loved ones. If you’d like to volunteer your time, please visit the link below. Thank you!

Thank you again to everyone who donated!
