From Mrs. Barry
Did you know that, as of this week, Meadow Wood has logged over 6,171 volunteer hours for the school year. This is absolutely amazing! We have such a strong community commitment to our Eagles - this is part of what makes MWE so special! From hands on science to library helpers, we can always find volunteers in the building.
Prior to covid, we used volunteers in several ways differently than we do now. We had kindergarten parents help with center time, parents who helped with copying, motor lab rotations, and more. Covid regulations eliminated this, and we had simply grown out of the habit when the restrictions were lifted. With next year's budget cuts, we are looking at strategic plans for utilizing our volunteers once again. This might mean revising parent help during kinder center time or asking for support during intermediate project based learning. It might be renewing our commitment to academic volunteers/tutors or expanding our mentoring program. Whatever it is, our purpose is to draw on the incredible resources we have within this amazing community for the benefit of our students.
We know we face challenges in the upcoming year - we can't look at a district-wide $35 million deficit and think otherwise. However, we do have opportunities that will help us control this adversity. I'm looking forward to all of us coming together and coming out better than ever before!
We are better together.
Spirit Wear Donations
PTA is collecting gently used MWE spirit wear in all sizes for CIS students. Donations can be dropped off at 14406 Twisted Oak Lane or the MWE front office. Please spread the word, especially to 5th grade families who may no longer need their spirit wear after this year. Reach out to Jordan Bohrer (jordan.bohrer@gmail.com) if you have questions!
