Buffalo Express
November 22, 2024
Buffalo Families,
We hope you are able to come and enjoy pancakes tomorrow morning and shop our Craft Fair. The Pancake Feed is 8-11 and the Craft Fair is 9-3.
We continue to collect gently used shoes for an organization called Sole Reason that gets shoes to children and adults in need. Thanks for all that have donated already!
As we approach holiday season, next Tuesday we will share a list of staff favorites and items requested by teachers. We also have a Berryton student that was selected to be the Grand Cheermeister for the Miracle on Kansas parade. This will air on WIBW tonight.
We are also working on giving support to BES families in need this holiday season. Here are the details!
WHAT: We are collecting gift cards from local retail and grocery stores (Walmart, Target, Dillons, ALDI, Kohl’s, TJMAXX, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, etc) to help BES families who need support providing their family with gifts and meals this holiday season.
WHEN: We will be collecting gift cards until Friday, December 13th.
WHO: Please send gift cards to school in an envelope with Mrs. Boyer’s name on the front.
QUESTIONS: Mrs. Boyer at boyerm@usd450.net or 785-730-5280
With Buffalo Pride,
Mrs. Bervert

BES Art Corner
This week in art we finished up our Van Gogh artwork! Almost all of the artwork is hung and if you get a chance to walk through the hallway from the front door to the cafeteria it is stunning and so cheerful! 6th grade wrapped up their Starry Night piece! I loved seeing all the different takes of Starry Night and how this really challenged them! 4th & 5th grades finished their own sunflower and started our Grateful Tree leaf project! Every student at BES will fill out a leaf that states a few things they are grateful for! I have also asked staff members to fill out a leaf! I will put up our Grateful tree next week once we all have classes complete their leaf. Classes are listening to the story The Grateful Jar by Katrina Liu. It is a cute story about a little girl who believes "it isn't fair" that her friends get to have and do things she doesn't. Her family creates a Grateful Jar where they place a slip of paper saying what they are thankful for each day. This completely changes the family's dynamic in a positive way! I hope to spark that mind shift within your child as well! 3rd grade loved doing their chalk sunflowers and they are beautiful! 2nd grade also finished their version of Van Gogh's Sunflower art as then did their gratitude leaf! 1st grade did their gratitude leaf and started making their turkey puppet on a stick! They are so cute and the kids are so excited to make them! They will be working hard using their fine motor skills crinkling the paper feathers! Kinders finished their ripped sunflower art and then will start the conversation about being grateful!
